Leeds United came from 1-0 down to draw with Brentford as Mirco Antenucci came off the bench to earn a 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Brentford start the brighter

It was Brentford who had the first chance on goal as Konstantin Kerschbaumer's low effort was cleared of the line by Leeds defender Gaetano Berardi inside the opening minute of the game.

The hosts then had a chance of their own, as Brentford 'keeper David Button pushed away a curling effort from Charlie Taylor.

The Whites then looked more likely to break the deadlock, as former Bee Stuart Dallas, who was facing his former club for the first time since his switch to Elland Road, saw a curling right-footed effort go over the bar on 22 minutes.

Brentford open the scoring

It was Brentford who were the team that broke the deadlock after Alan Judge, who had just curled an effort wide, set up Marco Djuricin whose low shot across the goal put the Bees infront.

Leeds United kept looking for a response but the goal wouldn't come, and as the first half came to an end, the visitors went in on-top and a goal up.

Just like the first half it was Brentford who started the brighter in the second half as Jake Bidwell's header at the back post bounced across the goal and Chris Wood had to turn the ball behind for a corner, which came to nothing.

Leeds show improvement

Leeds began to show some great improvement and it almost paid off as Sam Byram curled over the bar from 20-yards after some great work from Lewis Cook.

Brentford still were looking dangerous on the counter-attack with the pace they had, and Djuricin should have made it 2-0 as Marco Silvestri played a poor ball towards Liam Cooper and Djuricin show a shot hit the post, with a first-time effort.

The hosts came close on 65 minutes and they hit the woodwork as Wood's deflected effort from close-range got tipped onto the post by Button before the Bees cleared.

The game began to open up, with Leeds pushing towards an equaliser, and they were almost punished as Lasse Vibe hit over from 20-yards out after another counter-attacking move from the leaders.

Antenucci scores as Leeds draw level

United did manager to pull level on 76 minutes after Wood found the Italian Mirco Antenucci, who like vs Burnley, curled home a great finish beyond a helpless goalkeeper.

The goal from Antenucci put Leeds on the front foot and they were looking likely to get a winning goal, as Byram threatened twice with shots from distance.

Taylor also tested Button in the Brentford goal with a header, and the golden opportunity to win the game fell to Leeds scorer Antenucci, as he went through on goal and Button managed to hold the ball, leaving the match to end 1-1.
