Birmingham City have completed the double signing of striker James Vaughan from Huddersfield Town and defender Greg Halford from Rotherham United on the loan window's deadline day.

Both players have signed on with the Blues until the 2nd January, and could see their deals extended to the end of the season if they impress manager Gary Rowett sufficiently.

Striker Vaughan joins Blues

Striker Vaughan joins the club from Championship rivals Huddersfield, and as a native of England's second-largest city is in fact a Birmingham fan himself.

Having joined Everton at the age of nine, he signed his first professional contract in 2005 and became the Premier League's youngest scorer at 16 years and 271 days old, replacing former Toffee and current Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney as the club's youngest top-flight scorer.

Vaughan then has since spent loan spells at Derby County, Leicester City and Crystal Palace before joining Norwich City on a permanent basis.

Vaughan initially joined Huddersfield on loan in 2012 but he later made his contract permanent, signing a three-year deal in 2013.

Halford moves from Millers

Defender Halford, 30, joins from Rotherham having only featured eight times for Neil Redfearn's mean after joining the club this summer.

Halford started his career at Colchester United after signing a professional contract in August 2002 and made 163 appearances for the club.

He then joined Reading for a short stay before moving on to Sunderland. He made his debut for the Black Cats in a 2-2 draw against Birmingham but after just six months on Wearside he joined Charlton Athletic on loan for the remainder of the season.

Halford then completed a season-long loan move to Sheffield United and made his full debut for the club in 2008 once again against Birmingham, where a late Kevin Phillips goal secured all three points for the Blues.

The defender joined Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee in 2009, before he moved to Portsmouth on loan.

In 2011 he made his loan move into a permanent one at Fratton Park and was the club's second top scorer in all competitions that season with seven goals.

Halford then joined Nottingham Forest in 2012 and went on to score eight times in 82 games for Forest before joining Brighton and Hove Albion on loan in November last year. He joined Rotherham over the summer having been released from his contract at Forest, but his search for a club at which to settle has so far been fruitless.
