Having previously made it very clear that Leicester City are looking to tie up a deal for a new striker before the transfer window's end in less than a week, Claudio Ranieri has reportedly cast his net a little wider in his search for this elusive forward.

After being heavily linked with a move for Sampdoria striker, Eder earlier in the weekBBC Sport have reported that a bid in the region of £15 million has been turned down for Nigerian international, Ahmed Musa.

Still interested

Despite this, the Foxes are still be believed to be very interested in a move for the 23-year-old and the player himself is also believed to be "open" to a move to the Premier League leaders. However, the Russian club rejected the bid in order to reach an agreement closer to their £19 million valuation of the player. Nevertheless, the mercurial forward has a buy-out clause in his contract of £22.8 million which means Leicester could always activate that if a deal couldn't be agreed.

International Pedigree

At the young age of 23, the 5"6' wideman has already recorded 56 appearances for Nigeria, scoring 11 goals in the process, so would be a strong to the Midlanders' forward-line. In this time he has also been given the honour of the captain's armband for the Super Eagles, as well as being 11th in terms of all-time appearances for Nigeria.

Furthermore, Musa has also played on several occasions in the UEFA Champions League with current club, CSKA Moscow. It is this scouting of Champions League standard players that just goes to show how far Leicester have come this term under Claudio Ranieri.

If the Foxes are to make such a prestigious European competiton, which is looking likely, they will need to sign players who have the quality and experience to compete on a continental stage. Will Ahmed Musa be the first player to kickstart such signings?
