West Ham United have completed their eighth signing of the summer, with the permanent signing of Edmilson Fernandes.

New challenge

Fernandes has become the latest recruit of the Slaven Bilic revolution, joining the likes of Sofiane Feghouli, Ashley Fletcher and club-record signing Andre Ayew.

Fernandes was a regular for hometown club FC Sion, despite being only 20, making 66 appearances for the Swiss side, which included 39 in the previous campaign.

The midfielder has signed a four-year contract with the Hammers for an undisclosed fee, and was presented ahead of their 1-0 defeat to Astra Giurgiu, and he shared his delight at the move.

"I am really happy to be here at West Ham United,” Fernandes told whufc.com and believed “It is a new challenge for me and now it is down to me to work hard to become a top player."

He was adamant to the club site: “I had never been to this stadium before, but it is a really magnificent stadium and I will be working to my best to get to the top."

Out to get experience

Thursday proved to be a busy day in the transfer window for the Hammers, both with arrivals and exits, with Martin Samuelsen making a loan move to Football League Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

The youngster impressed many last season during his loan spell with Peterborough United, and shared his delight at his move to Ewood Park.

"I'm really happy to be here and I hope I can help and do well this season," he told rovers.co.uk and admitted to the club's site "It is a club with a big history, nice training facilities, and a nice stadium, and I knew a few of the players who are here from before. Then when I spoke to the manager I was sold."

Samuelsen concluded by firmly stating: "I want to help us win games and score goals and to get Blackburn back where they belong."

West Ham United will take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, August 28 with kick-off at 4pm BST.
