Burnley FC have broken their club transfer record to secure the signing of Jeff Hendrick from Derby County, the signing confirmed by the Northern club on Deadline Day.
Hendrick has signed a three-year-deal with the Clarets, manager Sean Dyche giving the go ahead for a sum of £11.5million, more than the club have ever paid for a player before.
The midfielder, 24-years-old, will join to help his new side battle relegation in their first season back in the Premier League, the highlight of which so far has been a 2-0 home win against Liverpool.
Burnley finally getting deals done
It's been a tough summer for the popular Dyche, who admitted weeks ago that he was struggling to get deals done due to the tough financial constraints imposed by the club's owners, Jon Flanagan's loan signing from Liverpool looking at one point like it would be their highest profile deal.
However, the cogs in the machine have started turning in recent weeks, Belgian midfielder Steven Defour brought in a couple of weeks ago, Hendrick coming in to possibly partner him in centre-midfield.
Adding to that, a loan deal for Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford was confirmed on the penultimate day of the window, swiftly done after fellow forward Andre Gray was charged by the FA regarding his Twitter account.
Dyche will be pleased with additions
Now that Hendrick's in alongside those two, Dyche will be much happier with his squad as he aims to beat the drop, however difficult it may seem.
A wanted man after some excellent performances for the Republic of Ireland at Euro 2016, there was always a chance that Hendrick was going to earn a move to a Premier League team, and it's now up to him to show that he deserves it at Burnley.
He admitted as such after signing, telling the club's website; "The Premier League was a big draw for me and it’s where I aspire to be after the summer I’ve had. Burnley did so well last year going unbeaten for five months and how much they wanted me this summer was a real positive for me."
