Southampton have been linked with a shock January move for Paris Saint-Germain's Hatem Ben Arfa.
The attacking midfielder has already fell out of favour at his new club and may be reunited with former boss Claude Puel.
Disaster start
The Frenchman insisted that moving to PSG earlier this summer was a "dream come true", but things have rapidly went downhill for the player.
New boss Unai Emery has left Ben Arfa out of his last three matchday squads and it's clear to see the 29-year-old isn't happy about it. This week Emery blasted the star and told him "you're no Leo Messi." This latest spat may mean Ben Arfa doesn't play for the next three months, despite having such a fantastic season at Nice in 2015/2016.
Puel revival
Ben Arfa's career has suffered many ups and downs and after an unfortunate end in England, he had to prove himself when he returned to France. Under Puel's leadership at Nice, Ben Arfa thrived. The player was back to his old self; scoring goals, taking players on and pulling off eye-catching tricks.
His form last season even meant he was given an international call up for the first time in a number of years. Playing under Puel may bring out the best in Ben Arfa but his temperament may always let him down.
Who's to blame?
As mentioned, Ben Arfa's attitude has seen him fail at clubs in the past. His relationship with Alan Pardew at Newcastle United was a huge problem and in the end, he lost his place in the side, despite being a fan-favourite.
As well as manager fall outs, Ben Arfa hasn't always got along with his teammates. Disagreements with Sebastian Squillaci and Karim Benzema in his early club days in France put his position in jeopardy.
At Newcastle, fans were fully behind the player and in their eyes, he was never in the wrong. However, after yet another bust up, you have to wonder whether Ben Arfa is the problem and not the victim. It may be a huge risk for Southampton to sign him in January.
