Despite winning away last week at Peterborough United, Hull City fell to defeat at home yet again with a lacklustre 0-2 score line against West Bromwich Albion.

Karlan Grant scored a goal in each half to sink the Tigers and even the most die hard of City fans would have admitted their side was never really at the races, despite the effort and determination their players showed. Shota Arveladze was disappointed after the game, but upbeat about the positives he could take.

  • ”Two small mistakes that make the result painful for us”

There were many good things in the ninety minutes – two small mistakes that make the result painful for us,” Arveladze said. “We had two or three half chances and we gave away sloppy goals. At the end of the first half we played really good football but we had more than half chances there.”

City certainly did finish the first half well despite being behind, but gave away a penalty just one minute into the second period which Arveladze felt was key to his side losing the game.

  • “Disappointed with the results but lots of positives to take out of the game”

Second half we needed to stay in the game and we did a mistake that doesn’t happen too much. In the second half if you look at the game, we didn’t really concede any chances – disappointed with the result but a lot of positives to take out of the game.”

The goalkeeper and defenders did well with blocking our chances too. Sometimes it is like that,” he added, showing his frustration at his side drawing a blank at home for a fourth game in a row.

Home or away it doesn’t matter,” said the Georgian when asked about whether his side’s away form was better than their home and why that was. “I’m just wanting to get the points, the supporters come to both and cheer for us. We just look forward to the game. I think the boys showed effort today, but we played an experienced team today.”

  • Inexperience cost City

We are not experienced in some respects – lot of energy and emotions but you have to not give them a chance to play. The boys will learn experience, but it is hard for the manager to take,” he finished.
