It's time for a new edition of the power rankings. You can find the previous edition here.

The rankings are based on a combination of league performance (relative to overall strength of the league), European performance (Champions and Europa League), and my own personal bias and subjectivity. I also try to use the 'who has beaten or would beat who' rule in deciding between two teams. If you disagree with anything, feel costless to explain why in the comments below.

Here are the full rankings:

1. Bayern Munich (unchanged)

Bayern Munich are separating themselves from the pack with their performances, both in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

2. Atlético Madrid (up 1)

Atleti are now on level points with Barcelona in La Liga and in far better form.

3. Real Madrid (up 1)

Gareth Bale is proving his worth in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. It seems Carlo Ancelotti is getting a better handle on his squad.

4. Arsenal (up 1)

Many thought Arsenal would falter at some point, but the Gunners are holding strong atop the Premier League and would have to utterly collapse against Napoli not to qualify for the Champions League knockout rounds.

5. FC Barcelona (down 3)

The Blaugrana are faltering without Lionel Messi and have lost two games in a row for the first time since March.

6. Paris Saint-Germain (unchanged)

Zlatan Ibrahimović and PSG stamped their dominance on Ligue 1 with a 3-0 victory against Lyon. Les Parisiens have cruised through Champions League qualification.

7. Juventus (up 2)

The Old Lady is back in her comfortable position; leading the Serie A table. A showdown with Galatasaray in Turin will determine her Champions League fate.

8. Borussia Dortmund (down 1)

Dortmund’s Bundesliga hopes might have been dashed in a 3-0 loss to Bayern, but their Champions League hopes were fully restored by a 3-1 home victory over Napoli.

9. Chelsea (up 3)

Despite two losses to FC Basel in group play, the Blues are assured of advancing to the knockout rounds and are hot on Arsenal’s heels in the Premier League.

10. Manchester City (up 4)

Another English club that’s sure to advance in Europe, albeit in second place in their group to Bayern Munich. City have weathered some bad domestic results and are also within striking distance of Arsenal.

11. Roma (down 3)

Four straight draws is a bit worrying for Roma. They are still unbeaten but face some very tough upcoming fixtures, including matches against Fiorentina, AC Milan, and Juventus.

12. Napoli (down 1)

A huge 4-2 win over Lazio kept Napoli within range of Roma and Juventus in Serie A. The Partenopei now face a nearly impossible task, needing to beat Arsenal by 3 goals, or they are bound for the Europa League.

13. Manchester United (up 4)

The Red Devils are not accustomed to seeing the likes of Newcastle, Everton, and Southampton above them in the Premier League table, but a 5-0 demolition of Bayer Leverkusen in Germany shows what this side are capable of.

14. Shakhtar Donetsk (up 4)

Shakhtar are back on top in Ukraine, and their European fate hangs in the balance with a visit to Old Trafford. They must win to go through or they could be leapfrogged by Bayer Leverkusen.

15. Bayer Leverkusen (down 5)

It was a dreadful, embarrassing performance at home to Manchester United that might have cost Bayer 04 their chance at advancing in the Champions League. Their fans will be somewhat encouraged by the fact that they currently sit second in the Bundesliga.

16. Zenit St Petersburg (down 1)

Zenit are slipping domestically, but earned a crucial draw with Atlético Madrid that just might be enough to see them into the knockout rounds in Europe's premier competition.

17. Olympiakos (up 3)

Olympiakos hold a commanding 11 point lead over the Greek Super League and have the edge over Benfica to become surprise entrants in the UCL round of 16.

18. Benfica (previously unranked)

Benfica now share the lead in the Portuguese Liga, but must beat PSG in their last Champions League fixture to guarantee their place in the knockout rounds.

19. Athletic Bilbao (previously unranked)

Beating Barcelona and moving into the Champions League places in La Liga makes Athletic Club deserving of a place in these rankings.

20. Schalke 04 (previously unranked)

Schalke need all three points when they are home to FC Basel next week, or they are in danger of falling out of this list entirely. They sneak in on the backs of other clubs’ failures.

The rest: Tottenham, Liverpool, FC Porto, Sporting CP, Fiorentina, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Ajax, AS Monaco, Lille, FC Basel, Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfL Wolfsburg
