HSV defender Ronny Marcos is seemingly close to an exit from the club to go to second division side Greuther Furth.

Having joined from fellow Hanseatic club Hansa Rostock in 2014, Marcos failed to make an impression, playing just nine times for the first team. At HSV II, he played 41 times, scoring two goals in what can only be classed as a disappointing move for the youngster.

The left sided defender did make his Mozambique international debut in June 2015, something he may not have been able to do if not at a top flight German club.

Kleeblatt switch?

The interested party in acquiring Marcos' services appear to be Greuther Furth. This was confirmed by @HSV, the official Twitter account of Hamburger SV, who stated "We are in contact with @kleeblattfuerth regarding a change".

Whether it will be a permanent deal or a loan switch for the 22-year old remains to be seen, but at such a young age there is clearly an opportunity for the shamrocks to recover some of the potential he showed in Rostock.

Fürth sit 10th in the 2. Bundesliga table with 25 points from 19 games so far this season. They are just five points from fourth place in what is a very tight division, so any additional reinforcements may send them on a second-half charge.

The story so far

As a youngster, Marcos played his football at JSG Fehmarn and Oldenburger SV at junior level, before spending 2009–2011 at VfB Lübeck and 2011–2012 with the Hansa Rostock academy.

The 5ft8" man spent 2012-2014 alternating between the first and second teams at Hansa before becoming an established presence at left back. By this point, his atheltic ability and workrate were getting him on the radar of several Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga clubs.

In January 2014 he completed a permanent switch to Hamburg after playing 50 games for Hansa at all levels.
