For those who still can’t fathom being fans of Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (22-2) one would have to question their true love for the sport. From Jon Jones to Ronda Rousey each camp is celebrated for their amazing skill set. Though when it comes to Johnson many overlook the fact that he may be better than all in each area. On Saturday night in front of an intimate crowd at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Johnson wowed the crowd by pulling off a last second submission over the outmatched Kyoji Horiguchi (15-2). It was clear to see that Quinton Rampage Jackson (36-11) was thrilled to return to the UFC and looked exceptional in picking apart Fabio Maldonado (22-8) on his way to a dominant victory. For a fight card that experienced every issue imaginable it has come and went. It may have not showcased the luster of a true pay per view card but still it was an exciting night of fight filled with surprises and creative octagon battles.

Demetrious Johnson pulled off a championship performance against the young contender in Kyoji Horiguchi. What we witnessed Saturday night was an impressive performance by a champion that is still notches above the rest in the division. One thing we can say is Kyoji is not far away and if he can get his grappling in order we will see him contend once again. There was a nice equal balance in the striking between these two flyweights so of course the wrestling of Johnson would be the difference. Horiguchi deep in the championship rounds placed DJ In some trouble but it was the only highlight in a night where he spent most of the night with his back either to the cage or on the canvas. The champ had his way with the young fighter and in the very last second moved from a cross face to a sick armbar transition to finish the fight. The submission came at 4:59 on the doubt and stunned the crowd. Another amazing victory for one of the true pound for pound greatest fighters in the world.

The return of Rampage Jackson to the UFC might have been shaky at first in regards to legal matters but he showed no effect of it in the octagon. It was surprising that Fabio Maldonado didn't mount much of an offense but that was primarily due to the ability of Rampage to neutralize his boxing. Landing some impressive combinations of his own Jackson put on a show that at least proved he could still compete against the best of the world. Even though he held his own the limited offense for Fabio was not on notice as much as his chin and that was his undoing. Rampage returns to the octagon after two years and gets a nice victory. True words of endearment post fight as you could tell he was gracious to be back.

Michael Bisping (26-7) and CB Dollaway (15-7) clearly had a FOTN performance with an outstanding stand up display. The first round found success for Dollaway as he dropped the Count but was unable to capitalize on the finish. In the second round Michael found his timing and was able to avoid CB and late in the round really showed he was a step a head. The third started out evenly with no one getting an advantage. In the end Bisping put CB on the canvas with a great left hook and pounced on him looking to finish. In the end the judges favored Michael Bisping as the 36 year old picks up a win on his son's birthday.

The hands of John Makdessi (13-3) was on point Saturday as he displayed a technical assault on Shane Campbell (7-3). Campbell had a few moments where he hit the nose of John but not hard enough for Makdessi to stop pressing forward. Once he was able to stay in the pocket and really start throwing he found the chin of Shane and sent him to the canvas. Tristar had a hell of a night and there gifted strikers put on a clinic in the octagon. None more than Makdessi who showed great power and technical ability.

The night started off with a bang on the main card after a very entertaining prelim. Thomas de Almeida (19-0) dominates Yves Jabouin (20-10) as he out struck the Canadian stopping him with a vicious body kick that led to a TKO finish in the first round. Thomas was all over Yves and didn’t allow him one moment to get settled. we expected a war here but coming in as the underdog Almeida had something to prove. It was a great victory for a fighter surging up the division.

The prelims saw impressive victories by Patrick Cote (21-9) Alexis Davis (17-6) Chad Laprise (10-0) and some fancy dancing by Olivier Aubin-Mercier (6-1). Up next for the UFC is UFC Fight Night Miocic - Hunt. The full results for UFC 186 are listed below.
