It's Week 8 in the NFL and teams are beginning to reach the halfway point of their seasons. There have been many surprises and disappointments along the way.

The Carolina Panthers (6-0) and Atlanta Falcons (6-1) lead the way as surprises in the NFL. The NFC South was the weakest division last season as the Panthers won a division title with a 7-9 record. Their turnarounds have been quick and dramatic.

The downturn of the NFC West, the league's toughest division in 2014, has been eye-opening as both the San Francisco 49ers (2-5) and Seattle Seahawks (3-4) have been struggling to stay out of the division's cellar.

Spotlight Game:

Green Bay Packers - Denver Broncos

Two 6-0 teams meet on Sunday Night Football in a rematch of Super Bowl XXXII, the Broncos first championship team. The Broncos will have a bittersweet night on Sunday as they celebrate that Super Bowl winning team at halftime, as well as inducting ailing owner Pat Bowlen into the Broncos' Ring of Fame. Bowlen is suffering from Alzheimer disease.

The Packers enter the game with the league's eighth ranked running game. Leaning on running backs Eddie Lacy and James Starks, the Packers have turned to the run game to make up for the loss of wide receiver Jordy Nelson, a key target for Aaron Rodgers in the passing game.

The Broncos have the top defense in the NFL but have one of the worst offenses. Peyton Manning is clearly not comfortable in the new Kubiak offense that emphasizes bootleg passes and the running game. Neither one has been effective. Coming off the bye week, it is hoped that the Broncos will debut a more effective offensive attack to go along with their shutdown defense.
