John Millman is through to the second round of the Sofia Open after beating Adrian Andreev a Bulgarian wild card playing in his home event beating him 6-3, and 6-1 in 73 minutes.

A fast start for the Aussie :

The 38th ranked player in the world set the tone early in the first set and we knew we were in for an intense battle. We saw long intense rallies from the word play and it was a very exciting match to watch for the fans at the Armeec Arena.

Millman would earn the first breakpoint of the match at 3-2 and would break the Bulgarian with an amazing return down the line to take a 4-2 lead. Both players held serve after that and the Brisbane native served out the first set to take it 6-3 winning another long intense rally.

Aussie Domination :

Both players held serve to start the second set and at 1-1 the 38th ranked Aussie had three break chances and would get the early break on his third opportunity after the 19-year-old would send a forehand into the net.

After holding serve the Aussie would have more chances to break and increased his lead forcing the error from the Bulgarian to take a commanding 4-1 lead. Once again after holding serve Millman was determined to get the job done as soon as possible and at 5-1 he had two match points on Andreev serve and would take the match as the Bulgarian would send another ball wide.

He will now face the winner of Gilles Simon vs Andrej Martin in the second round.
