Cavani, 27, only joined PSG last summer from Napoli and scored 16 goals in 30 Ligue 1 games, but his future has been the subject of repeated speculation.

He has spoke to the media regarding moves during PSG's tour of Asia with him saying on his possible move:

Cavani: "Am I sure I will stay? I am sure I am staying, why would I not be? I am good in Paris, under contract & calm. I feel good here.".

On issues such as playing out of position at PSG he had this to say:

Cavani: "My position? We had some small problems with that & I wanted to deal with it. But I feel good about it now. No longer an issue."

Most recently, PSG’s decision to remove the Uruguay international from some marketing material led to talk that he could be leaving the French champions for the likes of Manchester United

In the 2014/2014 season, he was played out of position for the Ligue 1 side, adopting a wider role to let the club talisman Ibrahimovic settle in his favored striker role. However, even in that wide role, he still managed to make an impact on Ligue 1 and Champions League matters, scoring 25 goals and making seven assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.

Cavani snubbing any transfer moves won't exactly be considered a loss for Van Gaal, with midfield and central defense issues taking priority as he already has a formidable strike force in Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney

However, if the likes of Javier Hernández end up moving to clubs he has been linked with, (most strongly Atletico Madrid) then not pursuing the PSG striker stronger could come back to haunt Manchester United as injury problems can be expected with the somewhat injury prone Van Persie and even Rooney susceptible to a few knocks during the season.

Whatever Cavani's current situation at PSG, rumours and speculation for the clinical Uruguayan star will continue to run rampant, all the way to deadline day.
