Reading are rumoured to be on the verge of signing West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Boaz Myhill according to HITC Sport.

Myhill's current Baggies deal is set to expire next month, but his deal does include an option to extend for another season should Myhill and the Baggies agree to.

However, West Brom are rumoured to have lined up a move for Crystal Palace's Wayne Hennessey as Myhill's replacement, according to the Birmingham Mail - as they look to bring in a new keeper this summer and should he arrive it seems almost certain that Myhill will be allowed to leave.

Myhill wants first-team assurances

The 32-year-old is thought to have rejected the opportunity of signing a new deal at the Hawthorns as he wants to be playing first-team football on a regular basis.

Myhill enjoyed a good run between the posts for West Brom at the back end of last season filling in for the injured Ben Foster, but should West Brom sign Hennessey and once Foster returns from injury, Myhill is likely to find himself relegated to third choice.

The 32-year-old previously spent seven years as first choice goalkeeper at Hull City, in a spell which included guiding them to the Premier League for the first time in the club's history in 2008.

Myhill departed the KC Stadium for Black Country side West Brom in the summer of 2010 following their relegation to the Championship.

Reading are not the only interested party

Nottingham Forest are also thought to have interest in signing the former Wales international Myhill, but it is Reading who look poised to win the race for his signature.

Reading boss Steve Clarke is in desperate need for a new goalkeeper after last season's number one goalkeeper Adam Federici left for Bournemouth earlier this summer.

Clarke sees Myhill as someone who can fill the void and bring much-needed experience to his side.
