It's good to see Chelsea giving Loftus-Cheek 45 minutes to prove himself, and the England youngster really took his opportunity. After a nervy start he managed to be composed and did look dangerous. Topping his performance off with his first goal for Chelsea, congratulations Ruben!

Chelsea were comfortable throughout this match, but Scunthorpe have done themselves proud and could have had a real result if Craig Pawson had awarded them a penalty.

FULL TIME.

90' Late chance for Scunthorpe! Begovic spills a corner back into the box and Bishop has a golden opportunity to score but he can only fire wide.

87' Thunderbolt from Clarke! The Scunthorpe defender rockets a shot off the bar from around 25 yards out. Great effort.

85' SUB. Last substitution for Chelsea, Costa comes off for Traore, three Chelsea youngsters on now.

83' Kenedy looks exciting, the youngster drives at the Scunthorpe defence and is brought down by Dawson.

81 SUB. Van Veen comes off, he's been good this game. On comes Wootton.

79' SUB. Adelakun on for William.

78' Madden finally has a go but it's disappointing. The Scunthorpe top scorer spots Begovic off his line and tries a lobbed shot from 35 yards, however it sails over the bar. Poor.

75' Penalty claim! This time for Chelsea, Clarke tackles Willian well but might have used his hand to control the ball. Looked like an accident and would have been harsh.

73' Close! Van Veen has looked sharp and he just hits the side netting from a free kick! Some Scunthorpe fans thought that one went in.

72' SUB. Kenedy on for Pedro.

69' It's Loftus-Cheek's first goal for Chelsea! Azpilicueta recieves the ball from Willian and puts a low and slow cross into the box. With the Scunthorpe defence watching Costa, the England U21 international arrvies in the box and slots the ball into the bottom corner.

GOAL FOR CHELSEA!

65' BOOKED. Ivanovic goes into the book.

65' Scunthorpe are looking much better in this second half. They're not making too many chances but are limited Chelsea and look dangerous when driving at the Blues defence.

64' BOOKED. Dawson recieves a yellow for a challenge on Willian.

62' Costa is brough down by Bishop in the middle of the park, Scunthorpe wanted to play on but the ref pulls it back. Bishop then tries to have a little tussle with Costa off the ball and to be fair to the Spaniard who has a reputation for that kind of thing, he stayed calm.

56' Scunthorpe fans are sensing their side are getting into this game, the travelling fans are in full voice.

53' Penalty claim! Van Veen drives at three Chelsea players and finds his way into the box, Ramires tries to tackle from behind. There was some contact from Ramires but it was very slight, the Dutchman went down either way. Scunthorpe want the penalty.

51' Chance for Chelsea! Willian puts a trade mark wonderful delivery in from a free kick. But no Chelsea player can get a touch, Daniels gratefully collects.

48' Loftus-Cheek might be a little excited here. The 19-year old goes in very late in a challenge. Could have been a booking but the referee just tells him to calm down.

45' We're back underway here and Oscar has come off for Loftus-Cheek.

Scunthorpe are still in this, they have been very well drilled defensively and particularly in the latter stages of the first half they started to look threatening. Madden is their top scorer this season but he has barely touched the ball. Mark Robins will be telling his side to get Madden on the ball more often.

Chelsea have dominated most of the first half, with Fabregas and Willian both looking good. Costa has been strong up against two tough centre backs, holding the ball up well and using his strength.

HALF TIME.

45' Close from Scunthorpe! Van Veen drives down the right hand side and hits a swinging early cross into the Chelsea box. If Bishop didnt tumble down we could have been looking at 1-1.

43' What a tackle! Cahill stumbled and Williams burst into the Chelsea box but Zouma slides in well. Scunthorpe starting to look more dangerous.

42' Williams has been a thorn in the side of Chelsea. He looks to be the only one who can make things happen for Scunthorpe and he wins a free kick deep in Chelsea's half.

40' Fabregas has been a joy to watch so far. The former Barcelona man has been such an effective playmaker, and he just spread another 30 yard pass to Costa after a wonderful piece of skill. Perhaps showing his manager that he deserves to start every game.

37' Chance for Chelsea! Wasted by Pedro. Oscar recieves the ball from Fabregas and cuts back into the box. Pedro has time to control the ball and shoot but the winger cannot control the ball well and bounces it off his arm.

34' Chance for Scunthorpe! Laird comes in and takcles Oscar, allowing Williams to control the ball and find some space, the midfielder then tries a curled effort from just outside the box but Begovic saves comfortably.

32' Van Veen wins a free kick here after Pedro hacks him down. Scunthorpe will like being able to slow the game down.

31' Willian takes a free kick from around 30 yards out, that seems to evade everyone in the box. Wallace has to tap it out for a corner.

26' Scunthorpe have a spell of possession that ends in them have a corner. The ball comes out to Dawson who rockets a powerful effort on goal, Cahill throws himself in front of the shot and blocks it, that looked painful. Better from Scunthorpe.

23' Chance for Chelsea! Costa holds the ball up and Oscar plays a one two with the big striker. The Brazilian then aims for the top corner but the ball just curls wide.

21' Save! Fabregas hits a fantastic pass from inside his own half that Pedro runs on to, and from an angle to spaniard hits a shot that is well saved by Daniels.

16' Willian tries a low cross into the box from the left hand side, it's cleared by Scunthorpe but the ball is kept by Chelsea. Fabregas finds himself 25 yards out with some space and fires a shot goal. Daniels has to tip it over the bar.

13' It's Diego Costa! With Chelsea not being able to work the ball through, Ivanovic hits a wonderful early cross into the box and Costa holds off two defenders to get a slight touch on the ball. It was enough of a touch to take it in the bottom corner, 1-0 Chelsea.

GOAL FOR CHELSEA!

10' Scunthorpe are frustrating Chelsea well. They are well drilled at the back and look to be dangerous on the counter attack, Hiddink's men are struggling to break them down.

5' Chelsea enjoying a lot of the ball. The visitors are happy to put every man in their own half and let Chelsea come at them.

2' Scunthorpe get the ball early after a misplaced pass from Pedro, The visitors look threatening and urgent. Chelsea deal with it but it looks like Scunthorpe will be very direct when they get the ball.

1' We're underway here.

Ten minutes to kick off, how do you think this one will go? Chelsea domination? Tight affair? Or perhaps a shock on the cards? Tweet us @VAVEL.

Half an hour to go! If any of you out there are thinking this will be a walk in the park for Chelsea, just think back to last year's 4-2 defeat to League One side Bradford City...

That is a full strength squad selected by Guus Hiddink, the Dutchman may give some youngsters opportunities from the bench but his selection is a real statement that hewants to win this cup just as he did in 2009.

Scunthorpe subs: Anyon, Wiseman, Canavan, McAllister, King, Adelakun, Wootton

Scunthorpe XI: Daniels, Clarke, Mirfin, Wallace, Laird, Dawson, Ness, Bishop, Williams, Madden, Van Veen

Chelsea Subs: Courtois, Terry, Baba Rahman, Mikel, Loftus-Cheek, Kenedy, Traore

Chelsea XI: Begovic, Ivanovic, Zouma, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Ramires, Fabregas, Willian, Oscar, Pedro, Costa

Welcome to the live commentary for the FA Cup clash between Chelsea and Scunthorpe United, kick off is scheduled for an hour from now but stay tuned for the team news.

The omens seem to be against the away side, Scunthorpe haven’t beaten a side from the top division since 1970 when they ran out 2-1 winners over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup. Chelsea have made it to at least the fourth round of this tournament 17 times in a row.

There have only been five matches between these two sides in history, and neither side has the edge. Both teams have won two games and there has been one draw. The last tie between these two was back in 2005 when Chelsea came out 3-1 winners.

Eden Hazard will be unavailable for this game after suffering an injury in the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace. Diego Costa remains the only fit first team striker in the Chelsea side with Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy still side lined. The lack of first team strikers could open the door for Patrick Bamford, the striker cut short his loan move after being frustrated with a lack of first team opportunities at Palace.

New Scunthorpe signing Conor Townsend is unavailable; he is cup tied after playing for Grimsby earlier in the competition.

Scunthorpe captain Stephen Dawson believes it is important to travel to face Guus Hiddink’s men with no fear. “You don’t really get the chance to play these kind of players week in, week out.” However Dawson is realistic about the difference between the two sides. He admitted, “If Chelsea turn up, Scunthorpe will be facing a tough challenge.”

With Hiddink given the opportunity to field some of the younger or fringe players, Ruben Loftus-Cheek may make his first appearance under his new manager. The England U21 international made a number of appearances last season as Chelsea stormed to the title, but has struggled to get any game time this year. The midfielder has the potential to be a solid player for the Blues in the future and matches like this are where he can show his ability.

Willian has been a bright spark in this disappointing season for Chelsea. The Brazilian has scored eight goals in all competitions including some incredible free kicks. The winger notched up a thunderous effort in his last match and if Hiddink plays him, he would be a safe bet for a goal scorer.

Scunthorpe have struggled for form this year, but a major goal threat in their side has been Patrick Madden. The Irishman has scored 14 goals so far this year already, 10 goals ahead of anyone else in his squad. If Scunthorpe are to get anything from this game, Madden will have to continue his fine goal scoring form.

League One otufit Scunthorpe head to the home of the champions as Chelsea host Mark Robins’ side in the FA Cup. The Irons will be hoping to emulate fellow third tier side Bradford City and claim a famous scalp against the Blues.
