Stoke City came back from behind at Stamford Bridge to level the score on Saturday ensuring for now that Chelsea don't overtake them in the league.
Blues interim manager Guus Hiddink rested key players such as Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas in anticipation of this week's Champions League second-leg clash with Paris Saint-Germain, giving players such as Bertrand Traore, Nemanja Matic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Abdul Rahman Baba time.
Stoke, on the other hand, played a very attacking lineup with the likes of Mame Biram Diouf, Ibrahim Afellay, Xherdan Shaqiri, Marko Arnautovic, and eventually Bojan on the pitch.
Despite Chelsea's early lead, Stoke demonstrated the form that has gotten them so close to a Champions League spot and deserved to equalise.
Traore opens the scoring
Despite a rocky game for Traore in which he seemed unsure on the ball at times and drifted offside, the Burkina Faso forward clinched a first-half lead for the Blues with a beautiful strike from outside the box.
Traore, who has scored in all of his past three appearances, received the ball from Matic, making this the Serbian's first assist of the season.
Stoke were lucky that Chelsea did not extend their lead after referee Mark Clattenburg failed to award the Blues a penalty for Marc Muniesa seemed to bundle over Oscar in the box in the 71st minute.
Diouf takes back a point for the Potters
It seemed as if Chelsea were going to end the match with all three points when Traore's goal stood unmatched for the first 80 minutes.
However, Diouf finally put one past Thibaut Courtois in the 85 minute. The Belgian keeper had punched Shaqiri's cross straight to the Senegal forward, who headed it into the wide-open net.
Although he had missed a few chances to score in the first half, he procured a point for Stoke just before he was replaced by Joselu. Bojan nearly earned the visitors a victory, but Courtois dealt well with the threat.
