I've been Aaron Stokes and I hope you've enjoyed Vavel's coverage of this game. Thank you for joining us and good night!

Son continues his fine form and Alli was involved throughout. Traore offered quite a bit for CSKA but Lloris was never really too troubled.

They had more of the ball and more chances, although CSKA pushed them all the way.

And they've done it... Spurs get their first win in this season's Champions League. A narrow victory but probably deserved on paper.

Spurs have two minutes to hold on here. Another sub imminent as they look to run the clock down.

87: Lamela is fed in over the top and his volley from a tight angle is smashed into the crowd. Shoulda done better.

Despite the chilly conditions, CSKA fans have their tops off in the crowd.

85: Hernandez breaks down the right and is played over the top but fires narrowly wide.

Spurs sub: Dele Alli off, Harry Winks on. The youngster will have ten minutes to shine.

Chance! 80: Eremenko thrashes a shot towards goal but Lloris does well to hold.

CSKA sub: Tosic off and Natcho on.

Chance! 73: Son again in on goal, 12 yards out, surrounded by bodies and once he finally digs the ball out his feet, his chance is blocked.

71: GOAL! Finally Spurs take the lead! Lamela slides the ball through a narrow gap. Son is JUST onside and he calmly slots under Akinfeev. 1-0 Spurs.

69: Alli attempts to find Lamela with a through ball but the keeper intercepts.

65: Spurs have a dangerous corner but Akinfeev bravely punches away. Can either side find a goal to break the deadlock? Under half an hour remaining.

Change imminent for Spurs.

61: Janssen goes down in the area after he's taken his shot. Referee doesn't give anything but watcing the replay, it's a poor decision.

57: Alli goes down in the box but not a penalty. Correct decision.

Fantastic start to this second half. Traore running the show for CSKA. Alli and Son looking like they both want a goal in this second half.

52: Chance! Son is teed up on the edge of the box, opens his body up and curls an effort narrowly wide. Has to be hitting the target from there.

51: After the ball is cleared, CSKA counter attack. Traore burts down the left and gets to the byline. He pulls a ball back for Schenickov, who can't direct his effort on target. Let off for both sides.

51: Some intricate play on the half way line from Spurs leads to Son being played in behind. The attacker seems through on goal but Moscow get players back to block.

50: Son whips a corner in and the ball just sits up slightly too high for Alli, who fires over on the half volley.

48: Trippier has the ball down the right, three players in the centre waiting for a cross. The right back shoots himself across goal and no Spurs player can get near it.

Substitution for CSKA: Vasili Berezutski is replaced by his twin brother Aleksei Berezutski.

The second half is about to kick off. The CSKA bench is covered in tiger print blankets- must be a bit nippy!

Half time. Spurs have had a lot of possession but nothing to show from it. Eremenko has looked dangerous down the left for CSKA.

43: Eriksen whips a ball in to the back post and Alli can't keep his header down. This comes moments after Alderweireld heads straight at Akinfeev from 12 yards out.

This game has livened up massively. Chances at both ends. You feel a goal is on its way.

Chance! 34: After some scrappy play the ball falls to Alli around 25 yards out. The youngster fires a shot and it bounces off the crossbar. The closest either side have came.

33: Eremenko cuts inside from the left and forces Lloris into a low save to his right. CSKA dominant.

31: CSKA force an attack, once again down the left, after a ball is pulled back and falls at the feet of Tosic. The midfielder fires over from the edge of the box.

25: Eriksen fires over once again. Another half chance.

No clear cut chances for either side. However, both teams looking to attack and get the first goal. Quarter of the game gone.

23: Alderweireld gives the ball to Eriksen who is around 20 yards out. He takes a swing at it but no where near troubling the 'keeper.

Spurs ramping up the pressure now. Trying to break down this CSKA defence.

17: Alli loses the ball casually on the half way line, doesn't track back. Luckily Alderweireld manages to win the ball back before Lacina Traore can get a shot away.

16: Alli plays a lovely back heel through the defence but Janssen is about 3 yards offside.

12: Wanyama dives in and gives away a silly foul. He goes into the book.

11: Trippier receives the ball out wide. Cuts inside and whips a cross in but Janssen, who fired over, was offside. Spurs starting to make chances of their own.

10: Alderweireld finds himself in acres of space but decides to shoot from distance. Never troubling.

8: Another chance for CSKA down the left hand side. Another failed cross but another corner earned. Spurs on the back foot here.

6: First real chance of the game. Golovin finds space down the left and pulls a cross back but Spurs manage to clear. The ball eventually ends up going for a corner. The ball hit Vertonghen on the arm but the referee misses it.

'3 Spurs enjoying a fair share of the ball but no chances for either side just yet.

Vincent Janssen hoping to take advantage of Harry Kane's absence.

A bit more team news as the teams get ready to kick off. Trippier makes his Champions League debut. Sissoko left out.

Away from this game, reports are circulating that Sam Allardyce has parted company with England.

The Champions League anthem is blasted out over the speakers at Arena CSKA. Kick off is imminent. Here we go!

CSKA Moscow: Akinfeev, Fernandes, Wernbloom, Ignashevich, Tosic, Milanov, Traore, Golovin, Berezutski, Eremenko, Schennikov.

The line ups are out. Here is how both sides will look ahead of kick-off shortly!

Hello, I'm Aaron Stokes and I'll be taking you through this evening's game between Tottenham Hotspur and CSKA Moscow. Spurs are looking to get their first points in this year's competition.

Ahead of the game, Jamie Joslyn looked at what Spurs need to change ahead of the match, compared to the Monaco game. Pochettino hinted that Son could start up front, whilst the match preview is of course to be found in our dedicated Tottenham section.

Spurs didn't start brilliantly the last time they were in the Champions League, throwing a 2-0 lead away at Werder Bremen to draw 2-2, but they followed that up with a 4-1 home win over FC Twente, something that they'll be hoping to repeat tonight.

CSKA aren't a team of nobodies by any means, with a squad containing reknowned goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, and Euro 2012 starlet Alan Dzagoev. They also have ex-Manchester United player Zoran Tosic, and former Everton loanee Lacina Traore.

One of the issues against Monaco, many felt, was the midfield of Alli and Dier. Whilst Alli's talents are obvious, perhaps playing him in a midfield pivot in Europe is a little too attacking, leaving Spurs exposed at times. However, it's likely to be the same tonight but with Wanyama alongside the youngster, due to Dier and Dembele's injury woes.

Tottenham have a number of high profile players out through injury tonight, which will hamper their chances of a positive result. Harry Kane was stretchered off against Sunderland 10 days ago with an ankle problem, and Danny Rose, Mousa Dembele, Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier all join him on the injury list, as confirmed by Mauricio Pochettino on Thursday.

Fortunately for Spurs, a win tonight could take them into second place in the group, if Bayer Leverkusen fail to beat Monaco in France. This is because Bayer and CSKA drew their first game 2-2 in Germany, a topsy-turvy affair which ended with no winner.

Although it's only the second group game, many have billed it as a 'must win' for Tottenham, given that they come into the game on nil points after being defeated by AS Monaco in their group opener. Playing a home game at Wembley due to White Hart Lane development was always going to be difficult, and it was made even more so when the French side went two ahead after 31 minutes. Spurs did improve and should really have taken something from the game, especially after Toby Alderweireld halved the defecit on the stroke of half-time, but they didn't quite have enough to come through.

Good evening to one and all, and welcome to VAVEL UK's live minute-by-minute commentary of tonight's UEFA Champions League Group E fixture between Russian side CSKA Moscow and Tottenham Hotspur of England. CSKA are the hosts tonight, with kick-off in the Eastern European country set for 19:45, and it's sure to be an entertaining one. I'm Aaron Stokes, and I'll be with you throughout the evening, so stick around for detailed updates and more ahead of kick-off and during the game!
