AS Monaco striker Anthony Martial has completed a medical at Manchester United on transfer deadline day, and an announcement will come after paperwork has been completed.

Martial, just 19 years old, will become the most expensive teenager of all time when he joins United, with the fee believed to be around £36million.

Martial completes Manchester United medical, set to become most expensive teenager in history

The youngster has returned to France after completing a medical at United's Carrington training ground, and will rejoin up with the France national team squad straight away.

Martial has received his first call up to the national team and will hope to make his debut in the next couple of weeks when France face Portugal and Serbia.

The Frenchman scored nine goals in more than thirty Ligue 1 games for Monaco last season, more than any other player under the age of 20 in Europe.

He also got three assists but will need years to settle in at United, who are struggling in the goals department, scoring just three in their first four Premier League games.

Regan Poole could become second teenager to sign for United

Another teenager close to joining United, ready to have his medical at Carrington now, is Newport County's Regan Poole. The 17-year-old defender had a trial with the club earlier this summer, as well as previously having trials at Fulham and Liverpool, and is now ready to complete a move to the Premier League side.

United have been extremely busy in the transfer market in the past few days. They have seen both Jonny Evans and Anders Lindegaard join West Bromwich Albion and have sent Adnan Januzaj on loan to Borussia Dortmund. Meanwhile, Mexico striker Javier Hernandez has joined German side Bayer Leverkusen for about £9million.

David De Gea's proposed move to Real Madrid appears to have collapsed. You can follow Manchester United's deadline day here on VAVEL.
