Bastian Schweinsteiger has said that he is no rush to sign a new deal at Bayern Munich.

The midfielder has been at the Bavarian club for 17 years but could leave as Premier League clubs are vying for his signature. Currently on international  duty with Germany, he has one year left on his contract.Manchester United amongst other teams are interested as he may look to reunite with former Bayern manager, Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford

The Germany captain is currently biding his time as he considers his future and options and says he is happy to do that.

"We'll have a chat this summer to see how the future looks."

That is what Schweinsteiger told Ard television after agreeing the terms with  Karl-Heinz Rummenigge the chairman at Bayern. "I've still got a year on my contract so there's no rush, and the summer's only just beginning."

Rummenigge said to Sport Bild magazine, "Our position is clear, we would only consider a transfer if Bastian comes to us with the desire to leave." He is not "aware" off any interest from Manchester United but would not stand in his way. Schweinsteiger won the Bundesliga title this season, this been his eighth at the club. In 2014 he won the World Cup with Germany and also won many domestic and international honours with Bayern.

If Bayern's talisman does opt to leave, what will they do next. The midfielder has been an ever present figure in Bayern's midfield now and will leave a massive whole to fill. Xabi Alonso is a quality midfielder with vast experience but is heading towards the end of his career. Javi Martinez could also be imporant in Bayern's midfield but he will have to overcome his constant injuries.

Philipp Lahm converted to a midfielder last season but similarly to Alonso is getting older. The future of Bayern's midfield is Mario Götze, Thiago Alcântara and Sebastian Rode. If Schweinsteiger leaves it will be their time to step up and flourish as they all have huge potential.
