The second edition of Tie Break Tens will take place on the 23rd of October with a star-studded lineup taking to the courts of the Wiener Stadthalle arena in Vienna. The first edition of the fast-paced tournament took place last November at London's Royal Albert Hall and seen young rising star Kyle Edmund walk away with the $250,000 prize packet. The event will open proceedings at the Erste Bank Open on Sunday evening before the main draw begins on Monday.

The lineup

This year, Andy Murray will return to Tie Break Tens, after losing out in the final at the London event last year, alongside a different group of stars. Austria's own Dominic Thiem will join in the action as he looks to take home the huge prize in front of his home crowd. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga also joins the lineup, completed by veterans Goran Ivanisevic, Tommy Haas and Wimbledon hero Marcus Willis.

Haas will play the event before he makes his comeback on the ATP World Tour next year. Willis, who has been given a wildcard into qualifying at the Erste Bank Open, will look to replicate some of the exciting tennis that he produced at Wimbledon this year that seen him reach the second round after coming through pre-qualifying.

Tournament format

The tournament is very different from a typical exhibition event. The players will be split into two groups of three and go head-to-head in a round-robin format, with the top players in each team facing off in the semi-finals to decide the finalists, with the runner-up of both semi-finals taking part in a third place play-off. Each match consists of only a champions tiebreak, where each point is crucial as the first player to 10 points wins.

All matches will be played on the same day, with the winner being decided within three hours with the fast paced highly entertaining format and big stars likely to delight the crowd in Vienna as it did in London.
