Eugenie Bouchard has rebounded from her disappointing 2015 pretty well so far. After getting knocked out of the third round in Doha, the world number 61 is set to move up in the WTA rankings. The Canadian ended her season prematurely last year after post-concussion syndromes ruined her Asian swing. This year though, Bouchard has earned better results in two months of play then she did all of last year.

Bouchard Speaks on the State of Her Game

I'm happy with the way I fought, but I definitely feel like my level of tennis could be better. Ican't complain even if I play terrible,” Bouchard told the press in Doha. “I'm so happy to be back on tour. I'm really grateful. I really realised how much I missed and loved tennis when I was forced out because of my injury at the end of 2015. I was out for a lot of months last year, so I'm not expecting miracles. I know I have to work hard every day in practice and every match I play.”

A Bright Start to 2016

Last year, Bouchard made the fourth round of three tournaments all year. Two of them came in the beginning of the year with her quarterfinals appearance at the Australian Open and her fourth round showing at Indian Wells. Her final fourth round appearance came at the US Open, where she was unable to play due to a concussion she suffered off-court.

This year however, the 22-year-old has made the final eight of two events already and also has a round of 16 showing. Her first quarterfinal came in Shenzhen, losing to Timea Babos in straight sets. Her second quarterfinal, came in Hobart where she was a runner-up; she lost to Alize Cornet in the final. Bouchard’s last tournament is still currently underway, the Qatar Total Open.
