Ex-Blades striker Billy Sharp could be back on his way to Bramall Lane to link up with former boss Nigel Adkins.

Sharp previously worked with Adkins at Scunthorpe United where he helped them gain promotion to the Championship after scoring 30 league goals.

The 29 year-old was then signed by Adkins at Southampton in January 2012 for a rumoured £1.8m from Doncaster Rovers.

Reports had suggested that the Blades were interested in the forward but Adkins has cooled any transfer talk regarding the player:

“Sharpy is a Leeds United player at this point in time, simple as that.

“We’ve always known him; we had him at Scunthorpe and sold him to United, then we took him to Southampton with us and brought him in on loan at Reading, too." said Adkins.

Sharp joined Leeds from Southampton for an undisclosed fee last August and endured a frustrating first season at Elland Road as he only managed to bag five goals.
