French national team manager Didier Deschamps has heaped praise for Anthony Martial for his performances for Manchester United this season. The Red Devils acquired a the services of the 20-year-old forward in the summer from AS Monaco.

Martial has been the bright spark for Manchester United in a poor season. The French forward has been top scorer for United across all competitions with 12 goals. Martial has been performing brilliantly even if he is not playing in his favourite position as Louis van Gaal continues to play him on the left flank.

Martial has justified his price tag

The French manager admitted that Martial has not been affected by his price tag at all and given his best this season. Martial joined Manchester United for a record transfer fee for a teenager, staggering £36 million that could rise to £50 million. While talking to press before the upcoming friendlies, Deschamps suggested that "Anthony is young but he has confirmed his potential in Manchester despite the weight of the price of his transfer."

Martial has also become a regular for the French national team due to his performances at club level. Deschamps further added that "he has progressed, he plays a lot. He is young and he is not tired.” Martial has become the focal point of Manchester United's attack as he is heavily involved in the buildup of goals this term.

There is a scope for improvement for Martial

Deschamps also praised Martial for his versatility. The French manager admitted that "He is doing very interesting things with speed and impact. Usually he plays on the left but he can play as centre-forward too.” Deschamps also believes that there is more to come from the 20-year-old forward as there is always a scope for improvement.

He further added, "It's good, he continues to progress, he comes regularly for the French national team but he has a lot of room for improvement." Martial is currently on international duty with France for the upcoming friendlies against Netherlands and Russia this week.
