Japan international Takuma Asano is eager to take the next step in his career ahead of his move to Arsenal, subject to a medical and international clearance.

The 21-year-old has been part of two title-winning sides in his own country last season with Sanfrecce Hiroshima, whilst earning ‘Rookie of the Year’.

Even though Arsene Wenger has already stated that Asano will be one of the future, the youngster couldn’t wait to arrive at the Emirates.

“I am glad that I can have a challenge overseas, which I have always wanted," said Asano.

"I want to play aggressively. I want to score many goals on the pitch, performing with my quick moves and eagerness."

The Japan international could represent Japan at this summer’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Japan international stunned at Arsenal move

Prior to Arsenal making a move for Asano, the youngster said he was ‘stunned’ that the Gunners had placed a bid, after he scored seven times in 19 appearances for his current side.

"I feel like I have the confidence to succeed wherever I go." he declared. "If I am loaned elsewhere, my take on it is that I give it 100%."

Wenger beat Augsburg and Salzburg to the signing, with the former said to have offered Sanfrecce Hiroshima €3 million in May to secure the services.

What next for Takuma Asano

The Arsenal manager has always been one to look for up-and-coming talent, and this time his search has led to Japan, where they found Ryo Miyaichi in 2011, who signed from Chukyodai Chukyo High School.

Although that signing never worked out, both commercially and fundamentally, there is much more promise surrounding Asano, who has already scored once in Japan colours since making his debut in 2015.

Unlikely to don the Arsenal shirt next season due to work permit issues, the 21-year-old would most likely be loaned out to either Netherlands or Germany, both of which Arsenal have links with.
