Jeremie Boga's agent has admitted that the French/Ivorian winger has had interest from other clubs following growing reports of big European sides looking to sign the former Chelsea player.
However, if any offers do arrive, Chelsea must be told by Sassuolo due to the option of re-sign the youngster.
When the Blues sold him to Sassuolo in 2018 for £3.5m, they inserted a buyback clause of £13m for Boga, who has provided eight goals and four assists in 24 appearances this season in the Serie A.
"I had talks with Napoli..."
Boga's agent and brother Daniel had spoke to Italian football news website CalcioMercato on the topic, saying the following:
“At this moment, I really couldn’t say.
“I had talks with Napoli, Atalanta and other European clubs. I haven’t had contact with Milan yet, so I don’t know if the reports of their interest in Jeremie are accurate.
“We always have to look at the sporting project, but Milan are a big club and can always be interesting.”
Another potential Blues signing?
Boga has had a breakout season in the shortened Serie A this year with Sassuolo, having been a part of the Chelsea Youth System from 2009-2015 when he was sent on loan to Rennes, Granada and Birmingham City over a space of three years.
He was then sold to Sassuolo for £3.5m, but now Chelsea could have new-found interest in the winger, following the numbers he's been putting up recently.
Manager Frank Lampard has been seen this season bringing multiple young players into the first team, including the likes of Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Tino Anjorin and Armando Broja, and it would be no surprise to see at least some interest from the Blues in Boga.
With Willian and Pedro both set to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season also, it figures that Chelsea would look to add some depth to the position in the next Transfer Window.
However, with recent signing Hakim Ziyech on a five-year deal, as well as competition from Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the same position, and not forgetting the squad's already stacked midfield, many believe that there might no be any space for another signing.
Despite this though, a player of Boga's quality of a relatively small sum of just £13m is a decent bargain for the Blues, a club known, sometimes unnecessarily, to splash the cash.
