Just three points separate Shrewsbury and tonights visitors Oxford United.

Both teams are experiencing uninspired form, with each side winning just two out of their last five league games.

But with Oxford's FA Cup tie with Woking on Sunday postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, will the weekend of rest help or hinder their chances?

A fixture originally set for the weekend of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, this midweek fixture provides a much needed possible three points for both sides.

  • Team news

Shrewsbury haven't been without their fair share of injuries this season, and Carl Winchester is no different. Manager Steve Cotterill explained today it will be a last minute decision as to whether the midfielder will feature.

Daniel Udoh and George Nurse remain on the injury bed with ACL injuries, and Julien Dacosta and Aiden O'Brien are also expected to miss this one.

Oxford United have been given an extra week to get players back fit with their FA Cup clash with Woking postponed.

Left back Steve Seddon misses this one due to picking up his fifth yellow card last of the season time out against Bolton, and right back Sam Long is still suffering with a tight hamstring. This news means  18-year-old James Golding is named in the squad.

Usual suspects Josh Murphy, Sam Baldock and Yanick Wildschut are all still out with injuries.

  • Likely lineups

Marosi; Flanagan, Dunkley, Pennington; Bennett, Winchester, Bayliss, Leahy, Shipley, Saydee, Street (3-5-2)

Eastwood, Golding, Findlay, Moore, Brown, McGuane, Bate, Brannagan, Browne, Taylor, Joseph (4-3-3)

  • Key players

Tom Bayliss has already bagged three goals and three assists this season for the Shrews. Playing as part of a midfield three allows Bayliss to travel forward and create chances using both wing-backs and strikers.

United will play a more reserved and counter-attacking style of football, and if Marcus Browne is starting for the U's then it will be a tricky afternoon for the home side. The former West Ham man loves to run at defenders and put them on the back foot. And with the passing range of Brannagan and Bate, he will be looking to spin in-behind his fullback all game long.
