Kolo Touré, Philippe Coutinho and Dejan Lovren will all be certain absences for Liverpool's Friday night trip to Exeter City in the FA Cup but will spend varying spells out on the sidelines according to manager Jürgen Klopp.

Lovren and Coutinho were forced off in the first-half of the Reds' 1-0 victory over Stoke City in the first-leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final on Tuesday after they both succumbed to hamstring problems.

In the final stages of the game, Touré appeared to be struggling with cramp but had to play on with no substitutes available. Though the Ivorian's problem is far from serious, it will keep him out of the cup game at St James' Park.

And though the centre-back would be a welcome option for huge Barclays Premier League clashes at Arsenal and Manchester United coming up at Anfield, Klopp explained that they are unlikely to be able to count on Lovren and Coutinho for those fixtures.

Reds' ever-growing injury list added to with problems suffered at Stoke

Klopp explained that the Brazilian's injury "is a bit more serious" than Lovren's, who is then "more serious" than Touré's problem - but said "none of these players" will be available at Exeter.

The German explained that, as "always with muscle injuries you don't know exactly" and refused to put an exact time stamp on their absences - but explained that Touré's problem "was a cramp" which just means "after three days, it's not possible to play the next game" but "next week, should not be a problem."

He predicted that Lovren's situation should mean "he will be available after Manchester United" whilst Coutinho needs "maybe one, two weeks longer" so around "three weeks" in total.

But he declared that because they are muscle injuries, they "don't know exactly" and added it's "really rare that it's quicker, sometimes it's longer" but they will "see how long it takes" for them to recover.

Hectic fixture schedule not to blame, insists manager

The trio's problems takes the total injury count up to 13 first-team players sidelined, with a packed fixture schedule resulting in various injuries and leaving Klopp short options in many areas of the field.

But the Reds boss bemoaned misfortune, rather than blaming the intensity of England football and how regular his squad are asked to play.

He explained that he "knew about the Premier League" and "about the fixtures" before he arrived in England in October and said insisted that it's "not a problem."

He said that he and his backroom staff "know about our situation" and "work here together" - saying they know "in most cases" about the reasons for the injuries, but insisted "it's often the situation that one injury at the wrong moment is a problem for the whole squad" because it leads to other players having "to play too much."

Ahead of the trip to Exeter, he revealed that Liverpool "have to react on this" and suggested "that's what we try to do this" amidst rumours that he will play a young and inexperienced starting eleven, because he "knew about the intensity of the football here" and cannot use it as an excuse for their injury problems.
