Arsenal blew away a resilient Watford side in an eleven-minute second-half onslaught in which the Gunners scored three times. Mesut Ozil was once again the Man of the Match after another brilliant technical performance in which the German playmaker recorded two assists.

Alexis Sanchez carried on his fine goalscoring form and Aaron Ramsey was able to find the net for the first time this season for his club in what was a hugely positive display in the second half from Arsene Wenger's men.

Watford go close in opening exchanges

Arsenal settled into the game early with the midfield dominating that of Watford's and Alexis providing a bright spark from the left-hand side. Sanchez tested Heurelho Gomes on 10 minutes with a stinging long-range effort before Troy Deeney stung the fingertips of Petr Cech just moments after.

The first big chance of the game fell to the home side on 20 minutes but Deeney was unable to find an unmarked Odion Ighalo in the Gunners box with Laurent Koscielny making a timely interception.

Ramsey with Arsenal's best chances

Wales star Ramsey had the Gunners' first real chance on the 26th minute but he was unable to convert Sanchez's precise cross after great work from Ozil in the build-up. The home side threatened once again on the half-hour mark but Ighalo was unable to control his effort after being put through one on one with Cech.

Watford continued to frustrate Arsene Wenger's side throughout the half, keeping a splendid defensive shape and almost catching the visitors out when a long ball forward was misinterpreted by Per Mertesacker, nearly offering a gift to Ighalo before Cech bailed out his team mate with the Hornets appealing for handball.

The teams went in at the break level with Ramsey blazing another shot over the cross bar just before the whistle after intricate build up play once again by Arsenal.

The teams came out unchanged for the second half with Arsenal yet again dictating possession in the early stages with Ozil having the first real chance in the 54th minute after an excellent disguised pass by Sanchez, but Sebastian Prodl was on hand to make a crucial block.

Mertesacker picked up the first booking of the game after he was easily turned by the threatening Ighalo and the big German resorted to bringing down the Nigerian striker with Watford beginning to put pressure on the Gunners backline.

Sanchez snipes opening goal

Arsenal finally made the breakthrough in the 62nd minute after a perfect slide-rule pass by Santi Cazorla found Ozil who was fouled in the box by Nathan Ake but Sanchez was on hand to smash home before a penalty could be awarded. The goal was the first Watford had conceded at home from open play all season.

Olivier Giroud replaced the ineffective Theo Walcott in the 63rd minute and the Frenchmen made an impact just four minutes later when he converted an excellent cut-back from Ozil to put the Gunners two-nil up.

The goals kept on coming for Arsenal in the 73rd minute when the impressive Hector Bellerin burst through Watford's defensive barricade and put the ball on a plate for Ramsey, whose shot deflected into the net for the Welshman's first league goal of the season.

Arsenal see the game out without issue

Sanchez and Ozil were both brought off on the 80 minute mark with the superstars producing two more splendid performances in the league, highlighting the offensive threat that Wenger's side possess.

Arsenal comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to secure back to back 3-0 victories and leapfrog rivals Manchester United into second place in the table after Louis Van Gaal's side beat Everton earlier in the day.

With a tough game against the Toffees at the Emirates next Saturday this win helps Wenger's side put pressure on Manchester City, who themselves face a difficult trip to their Manchester rivals next Sunday with a host of injury problems.

A title challenge is what Arsenal fans want and this was a performance which will help keep fans believing that this is finally the year they once again challenge for the Premier League crown.
