Didier Drogba looks set for another return to Chelsea, this time in a coaching capacity.

He can't stay away from Stamford Bridge

Drogba has been playing in the MLS for the past season, and the striker has shown his quality in America - scoring 12 times for Montreal Impact. But being only three years away from turning 40, it appears Drogba has turned his attention to his retirement from playing and his new career as a coach.

The 37-year-old left Chelsea last year after helping the Blues claim the 2014/15 Premier League title. This season the Blues have endured a torrid start to their title defence, winning just six league matches out of a possible 20 and last month’s loss to Leicester was the last straw for Jose Mourinho.

His replacement, Guus Hiddink, is facing an uphill battle to gain the fans support; a fan base that were strongly behind the former manager. Despite not losing any of the three matches he has had in charge so far and boasting an incredible record during his first spell as manager of Chelsea, the fans are still upset with the club. Hiring the Ivorian striker will be a good start to getting the fans back on side.

Third time lucky

Widely regarded as a Chelsea legend, Drogba won every major trophy he could during his time at Stamford Bridge. Winning three League Cups, four FA Cups and four Premier League titles. In 2012 Drogba wrote his name in Chelsea folklore by powering a header past Manuel Neuer to take Bayern Munich to penalties in the final of the Champions League. It was the Ivorian who then stepped up to take the deciding penalty to secure Chelsea’s first and only Champions League trophy to date.

He then returned to Chelsea in the summer of 2014 after spells in Turkey and China to add another League Cup and Premier League title to his already glistening Chelsea career. The Chelsea fans may be saddened by losing their talismanic manager Mourinho, but the arrival of another club legend in Drogba will surely be a welcome addition.
