Chelsea will continue what has been possibly the most eventful week of the season when they take on Watford in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The Blues are holding on to a nine game unbeaten streak in all competitions.

Eventful week

With the January transfer window coming to a halt, club technical director Michael Emenalo made questionable moves that generated mixed emotions in the media, including the revealing by club captain and legend John Terry that his contract will not be renewed this summer.

Additionally, former Brazilian wonderkid Alexandre Pato has joined the strike force on loan from Corinthians for the last six months of the season. With his arrival brings competition to Frenchman Loic Remy and youngster Bertrand Traore upfront, since Radamel Falcao is deemed likely to not make any more appearances during his loan spell if his injuries continue.

Matt Miazga, an American international centre-back, also crossed the Atlantic Ocean to join the Blues from MLS side New York Red Bulls

Watford previously impressed at Stamford Bridge, edging out a 2-2 draw back on Boxing Day which could have easily been three points but Chelsea utilised their only two shots on goal.

The Blues will look to add three points to a bust week, but the Hornets have discontinued their four game losing streak with a 2-1 win against Newcastle United and a 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

Team news and projected XI's

Quique Sanchez Flores' side were also busy during the January transfer window, acquiring signings such as Mario Suarez from FiorentinaAbdoulaye Doucouré from RennesAdalberto Peñaranda from GranadaNordin Amrabat from Malaga, and Costel Pantilimon from relegation threatened Sunderland. That means in one month they captured at least one player from four of the top five leagues in Europe.

They come into the game with a strong squad then, though Chelsea loanee Nathan Ake will not be allowed to feature against his parent side, putting Jose Holebas back into the starting XI. Allan Nyom should be back also on the opposite side of the pitch at left-back.

Possible Watford Starting XI (4-3-1-2): Gomes; Nyom, Cathcart, Britos, Holebas; Capoue, Watson, Behrami; Jurado; Deeney, Ighalo.

Guus Hiddink has rotated the squad to incorporate youth and tactical advantages especially in the midfield area since his arrival as manager. The thrilling 5-1 win against Milton Keynes Dons in Sunday's FA Cup clash was an example of this.

The game saw Eden Hazard score his first goal this season; Oscar score a hat trick; Baba Rahman make a successful appearance; Bertrand Traore score; and Ruben Loftus-Cheek play a full match - all of which will leave questions on the starting 11.

Willian is listed as doubtful after an apparent foot injury, while new signings Pato and Miazga may be incorporated into the squad by being placed on the bench.

Hiddink could settle back to a more relatable squad from last season, except with Pedro possibly filling in for Willian on the right flank. Cesc Fabregas may drop deep next to Nemanja Matic or John Obi Mikel, and Cesar Azpilicueta could reclaim the left-back position. Maybe Asmir Begovic will get a chance between the posts?

Possible Chelsea Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Courtois; Ivanovic, Zouma, Terry, Azpilicueta; Mikel, Fabregas; Pedro, Oscar, Hazard; Costa.

What to expect

In spite of the recent forms of both clubs, it may prove to be a match of individual strengths.

Diego Costa has been revitalised under Hiddink with great attack positioning, Oscar - who usually lacks consistency - has found his form, and Hazard will possibly be booming with confidence after scoring his 50th goal for the club.

However, the Hornets side still remain above the Blues in the table and in front of their home crowd could pull through with another impressive result against the Premier League champions.
