Wolfsburg made it into their fifth UWCL final after their 1-0 victory over the Catalans and eagerly await the winner of Lyon vs PSG.

It took a lucky poke from Fridolina Rolfö to put her side into another final after her Wolfsburg side was out played and out possessed by Barcelona 61% to 39%.

But the Spanish did more than Wolfsburg to keep themselves out of the final after managing 16 shots and just a single one on target, failing to be ruthless in front of net.

Though, Wolfsburg's game wasn't much better with 12 chances and 4 on target, but they did enough to get through and they'll only look to improve on today.

The Germans have not won the competition since 2014 and look to reunite with the trophy in Sunday's final in San Sebastian.

  • Story of the match

The first promising play of the match was from a corner kick aimed at the near post where Asisat Oshoala flicked the ball back onto  Kathrin Hendrich's hand which forced her keeper to making a quick save to tip the ball over the crossbar.

Had VAR been present in this match, this would have no doubt been a Barcelona penalty, but this was just one of few errors from the Hungarian referee, Katalin Kulcsár.

Rolfö got her first opportunity of the game 25 minutes into the match after a promising counter attack down the left wing, but her early shot was way wide of the net and let Barcelona settle back into shape.

Asisat Oshoala almost got the opening goal out of nothing, after Hendrich attempted to shield the ball for her keeper to pick up but the Nigerian international managed to poke through, but the ball went wide.

The clearest opportunity of the match came in the 41st minute after Barcelona comfortably passed the ball around the Wolfsburg defence to find Caroline Garaham Hansen in space behind.

CGH managed to ease her way out of a 1v1 with Dominique Janssen only for her low and powerful shot to hit the side netting.

The first half ended goalless with only a slight Barcelona edge.

Second Half

Six minutes into the new half, CGH receives a perfectly weighted pass from Jennifer Hermoso and finds herself 1v1 with Friederike Abt, but instead of putting into the back of the net she tries to pass it to Oshoala who is in between two Wolfsburg defenders.

Another missed Barcelona opportunity.

It wasn't until a Svenja Huth cross, a poor Andrea Pereira clearance and a failed Ewa Pajor bicycle kick that Rolfö poked her side into the lead in the 58th minute.

The Catalans were quick to respond and just two minutes later Oshoala grazes the crossbar with a free header.

Mariona Caldentey gets the newest Spanish disappointed shortly after, skying her shot when she was faced right in front of goal.

Pernille Harder got the chance to secure Wolfsburg into the final on a breakaway, beating a Barcelona defender with ease, but fatigued showed and Sandra Paños comfortably made a save.

It wasn't until the 86th minute that we saw Lieke Martens come into the game and see a Barcelona tactical change to three in the back for more attacking options.

But Wolfsburg managed well to see the game out and find themselves in another UWCL final.
