Fulham moved up to 6th in the Premier League with their first win over Chelsea in the South West London Derby since 2006.

The result takes Marco Silva's side above Liverpool to 6th place, whereas Chelsea's misery continues with a third successive defeat in all competitions, leaving the Blues 10th in the Premier League

Kalidou Kouliably ruled out Fulham's first half opener scored by former Chelsea player Willian, but Carlos Vinicius' 73rd minute header sealed all three points for Fulham.

  • Story of the match

Chelsea started the game strongly with new loan signing João Félix setting the tone early on. The Portuguese forward got the better of his man down the right wing and found Kai Havertz inside the box with a good ball but the German's shot was blocked, with Lewis Hall picking up the scraps and forcing a great save out of Bernd Leno.

Fulham also showed some promise going forward early on as Brazilian striker Vinicius, who was deputising for the suspended Aleksander Mitrovic, snatched at an early chance in the 7th minute as his effort from inside the box went wide of the target.

Felix looked dangerous in the opening 10 minutes and nearly came close to marking his Premier League debut with a goal when midfielder Mateo Kovacic gathered a loose free kick and found the Atletico Madrid loanee, but his shot whistled just past the bottom corner.

Bobby Reid nearly broke the deadlock for Fulham when he latched onto the end of a great pass inside the box, but his shot smashed against the crossbar and was cleared out.

It was the former Chelsea player Willian who gave the Cottagers the lead though, as the 34-year-old cut inside and beat Cesar Azpilicueta before finding the bottom right corner via a deflection.

Graham Potter's side almost replied swiftly, but German goalkeeper Leno was equal to Felix's low shot to keep his side in the lead.

Leno was again called into action minutes later and produced a fantastic save to deny a long range rocket struck by Chelsea wing back Hall.

Felix was causing the Fulham defence all sorts of problems and on the cusp of half time he ran onto the end of a loose pass inside the box but Leno was there again to make another good save to deny the 23-year-old.

A matter of minutes later Kepa Arrizabalaga was called into action at the other end of the pitch, with the Spanish shot stopper forced into tipping a strong bullet header from Vinicius over the crossbar.

Just two minutes after the half time break and the visitors drew level - Mason Mount's free kick from a wide angle ricocheted off the near post and fell to centre half Koulibaly who was in the right place at the right time to smash the ball into the back of the net.

On the hour mark Chelsea were dealt a huge blow when new signing Félix was shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Fulham defender Kenny Tete.

Despite being down to 10 men the visitors continued to push for another goal - Mount and Havertz combined well down the left flank, with the latter having his shot saved by the outrushing Leno.

With just over 15 minutes to go in the South West London Derby, Fulham striker Vinicius got on the end of a beautiful floated cross by Andreas Pereira to head the home side back in front, scoring his first Premier League goal of the season.

As the clock ticked over to the additional minutes, Havertz squandered another great chance, running onto the end of a defence splitting pass but was denied by Leno yet again.

The 30-year-old shot stopper was integral in Fulham's 2-1 triumph over Chelsea in the South West London Derby.

The German moved across London from North London side Arsenal in the summer and has been one of the signings of the season so far.

Leno made a number of great saves to keep his side in the game at times, and the Cottagers wouldn't have won without him.
