“The new coach has brought a lot of discipline into the team and the boys love it; we love the discipline he brings into the team and you can see in the games now that there is a lot of focus now, there’s more attention to details when it comes to set-pieces, free-kicks and we don’t concede goals like we used to before”.

Gernot Rohr was appointed new coach of Nigeria in August and he has since led the team to two outings, the most recent being the 2-1 win over the Chipolopolo of Zambia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier in Ndola.

The Chelsea midfielder who represented Nigeria at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil where he led the team to a Bronze medal is yet to feature for the Antonio Conte led Chelsea team this season.
Nigeria prepares to host the Desert Foxes of Algeria on November 12 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom for the second Group game of Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers and Mikel says every player in the Eagles camp are working really hard not to make mistakes.

“Everyone is working together during training to make sure that we don’t make mistakes and you can see the way we play when we have the ball, we like to play, we like to create chances and if we continue to do these things like we’ve started, I know we’ll finish well”.

Nigeria already got off to a good start registering three points in Ndola against Zambia and another win in Uyo against Algeria will set the pace well for an appearance in Russia 2018.
