Manchester United have officially announced the sacking of manager David Moyes. He was in charge of the club for 295 days and was in charge of 51 games.
A statement on the official Man United website confirmed the departure
“Manchester United has announced that David Moyes has left the club.
“The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.”
Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson last summer after his retirement, signing a six-year contract with the club. After leading the club into the worst position possible with no Champions League football next season, he was relieved of his duties.
Louis Van Gaal is now touted as favourite to succeed Moyes and reports suggest he will be in talks with club officials next week. In the meantime, reports claim that Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt will be in charge for the remainder of the season. His last game in charge at Old Trafford was a loss to his previous club Everton.
