We are officially less than one week away from the start of the 2021 / 22 Premier League campaign, and the excitement from all the players and fans of the game its pretty clear.

Tottenham Hotspur will face a big challenge in the opening weekend of the English league, as they will host the defending champions, Manchester City at North London.

Spurs have had a troublesome summer to say the least, hiring a new manager and sporting director, along with the speculation of a potential Harry Kane departure.

On the bright side, Heung-Min Son, who signed a new contract this summer to stay with Spurs until 2025, looks happier than ever, and talked publicly the mood in the Tottenham camp ahead of the season opener.

Reaction

"Everybody should be ready for every game, that is so important," Son told SkySports. "There is a chance every game, we know how important that is. If you're not focused, if you're not ready, then every game we are going to struggle.

That is why, in the pre-season, we are working really hard to try and make it as easy as possible for the coming season.

We want to focus game by game to try and win the games and we will see when we arrive what we can achieve."

Nuno's impact

The South Korean superstar also spoke about the impact Nuno Espírito Santo's has had in the Spurs dressing room since being appointed head coach in July.

"I've really enjoyed it. It's been maybe two or three weeks with the new manager, but I have a really good, positive feeling," Son added. "I hope we can help the manager and the manager can help us so we can have a close side. I think we are looking positive, he looks positive.

I think if we have a positive feeling in the changing room and on the pitch, that's so important.

Sometimes we forget this feeling but I think we have this positive feeling at the moment."

During the 2020 / 21 campaign, Heung-Min Son formed one of the most lethal pairings in Europe along with Harry Kane, as the duo recorded 14 goal combinations, which is a record for a single Premier League season.

He was also named in the PFA Team of the Season.
