Manchester City's Premier League campaign got off to a flier last weekend, as star signing Erling Haaland opened his account for the club in impressive style, netting twice in a 2-0 victory at West Ham.

But whilst City's squad is littered with quality in the final third, they are a little short on numbers as far as their full-backs are concerned.

Oleksandr Zinchenko's move to Arsenal earlier this summer means that the Citizens have just two senior fullbacks on their roster in the form of Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker.

Whilst Cancelo lit up the Premier League as a left-back last season, the Portuguese international is by trade, a right-back.

With their long-term left-back target Marc Cucurella now plying his trade at Stamford Bridge, City will look to turn their attentions elsewhere in pursuit of full-back reinforcements.

Here are three that the club could consider signing before the transfer window slams shut.

Sergio Gomez

One left-back who looks set to make the switch to East Manchester is highly-rated Spanish youngster, Sergio Gomez.

The 21-year-old was named Anderlecht's Player of the Season for the 2021/22 campaign, after impressing at both ends of the pitch.

Gomez chalked up 7 goals and 15 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions last season, all whilst plying his trade under the tutelage of former Manchester City captain, Vincent Kompany.

It is understood that the two parties are close to an agreement for Gomez, who is likely to cost Manchester City between £10-15M.

The initial intention was to send Gomez out on loan to one of the City Football Group sister clubs, however, with time running out to sign a more experienced alternative, Gomez could well be thrust straight into the first-team fold at the Etihad Stadium.

Borna Sosa

VFB Stuttgart's Borna Sosa has been linked with a move to the Etihad this summer and, given his versatility, you can see why Pep is thought to be an admirer.

The Croatian fits the mould of a Pep Guardiola left-back in that he is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, and equally comfortable getting forward to help link up the play in the final third.

Sosa registered an impressive nine assists for Stuttgart across all competitions last season, although it is worth noting that a number of his appearances came in a more advanced left midfield role.

The 24-year-old still has three years left on his current deal and with Stuttgart in no rush to sell one of their prized assets, City would have to stump up a fair bit of cash to secure his signature.

Raphaël Guerreiro

A third and final option for Pep Guardiola's side is another that has been linked with a move to the club in recent days, Borussia Dortmund's Raphaël Guerreiro.

Like his Bundesliga counterpart Sosa, Guerreiro is an attacking-minded left-back, as highlighted by his impressive numbers in the final third. Guerreiro has registered 34 goals and 37 assists in 190 appearances since joining Borussia Dortmund in 2016.

There are concerns regarding the injury record of the Portuguese international. Guerreiro missed 11 matches in all competitions last season, with a number of different muscular problems.
