After winning promotion to the Championship last season, Sunderland have started off their campaign with a win and a loss. 

Alex Neil's side drew 1-1 with Coventry in their opening game, before defeating Bristol City 3-2 last weekend thanks to a brace from Ellis Simms and a goal from Ross Stewart

The Black Cats currently sit second in the league, whereas their opponents Queens Park Rangers are placed in eighth.

Despite losing 1-0 away to Blackburn in their first match, the R's bounced back well defeating promotion favourites Middlesbrough, where Chris Willock, Jimmy Dunne and Lyndon Dykes were all target for the West London side.

Sunderland

Sunderland are set to be without German forward Leon Dajaku, who suffered a recurrence of a thigh injury last week.

Neil's squad have no other injury concerns ahead of Saturday's game, with the rest of the Black Cats players available for selection.

Queens Park Rangers

Michael Beale will have the whole of his squad at his disposal, with his team being given a clean bill of health before the game.

Ross Stewart

Stewart was the Black Cats top goal scorer last season with 24 goals and a further three assists in League One.

The Scottish striker scored at Wembley in the play-off final against Wycombe Wanderers as Sunderland won promotion back to the Championship since getting relegated back in 2018.

The 26-year-old scored in Sunderland's win over Bristol City last week, and will be eager to add more goals to his tally against QPR.

Chris Willock 

Willock finished last season with seven goals and 11 assists as QPR finished 11th in the Championship.

The winger gained plenty of plaudits for his performance against Middlesbrough, where he got off the mark for the 2022/23 season with a brilliant goal from outside the box.
