The Rovers will look to carry on their excellent start to the Championship season, as they presently sit top of the table, being the only team to have won their opening two games of the season.

With that being said the performances have been very promising if you were a Blackburn supporter - The Riverside Rovers are the only team in the league to have kept a clean sheet in the opening two games played so far this campaign.

This story has been very much alike for West Brom fans too. But strangely West Brom lie in mid-table after picking up two points from a maximum of six, but the performances in both of the games justify a lot more than the two-point they have got.

The Baggies last played in opposition, to promotion favourites Watford, with the match ending in a tie. Steve Bruce's side dominated the away team and were very unfortunate not to come away with more than a point.

Bruce spoke to Sky after the full-time whistle and said "I could not have asked more from my team, the performance is the most important thing for me and the boys were outstanding."

  • Team news

Blackburn Rovers

The Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson is expected to go into the fixture with no new injury concerns or doubts.

Samuel Barnes and Hayden Carter are both expected to miss the match through injury.

New signing Callum Brittain is predicted to be named in the starting eleven once again, after signing from Barnsley this summer.

West Brom

Steve Bruce will have to rely on the likes of new signings Jed Wallace and John Swift if he wants to get the Baggies back in contention for promotion to the English top flight.

After Bruce's team had an excellent performance against Rob Edwards' men on Monday night - it is likely that he will field a similar team and perhaps leave it unchanged.

The Baggies' new signing Okay Yokuslu may play from the start after making a cameo appearance against the Hornets last time around.

The only somewhat negative news for West Brom supporters is that striker Daryl Dike will miss the match against Blackburn after sustaining a worrying thigh injury.

  • Likely lineups

Blackburn Rovers

Kaminski (GK), Brittian, Ayala, Wharton, Pickering, Travis, Buckley, Hedges, Szmodics, Diaz, Gallagher (4-2-3-1)

West Brom

Button (GK), Townsend, Ajayi, O'Shea, Furlong, Molumby, Livermore, Diangana, Swift, Wallace, Grant (4-2-3-1)

  • Key players

Ben Brereton Diaz

The Rovers boss has been pleased with the performances of Diaz so far this season, Diaz joined Blackburn in 2018 from Nottingham Forest.

Last season was a breakthrough season for the 23-year-old as he made 37 appearances in the Championship, and scored a total of 22 goals, which made him the fifth highest goal scorer in the league.

Also, Diaz was called up to play for his country in recent months, making a total of 15 appearances for the Chile National team.

Jed Wallace

The Baggy playmaker has started the season off brightly: playing the whole 90' minutes, in the first two games of the season.

Wallace is a familiar face in the Championship these last few years - notably from his time at Millwall. He played 38 games last season scoring six and assisting 12 goals for his previous teammates.

Jed is a huge boost to the West Brom team - in terms of experience and also quality. Many believe Bruce's side have a chance of finishing around the promotion places with the added consistency of the 28-year-old.

  • Previous meeting

The last time these two teams faced each other in a competitive match was the 14th of January, earlier this year - the fixture finished in a stalemate and it was Steve Bruce's second game in charge of the Baggies.

West Brom have not won successive away league games at Ewood Park since 1898 - which they will hope changes when these two teams face each other.
