Brentford salvaged a point late on, thanks to a Vitaliy Janelt header, in their meeting with Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Janelt's response to Anthony Gordon's opener meant the points were split, in a game where Brentford will feel disappointed to not have collected all three. The 19 shots at goal from the hosts were not enough to beat Jordan Pickford more than once.

Everton, for only the third time since the formation of the Premier League, have failed to win any of their opening four games of the season.

These are the player ratings from the Gtech Community Stadium:

Brentford

David Raya - 6/10

Had six saves to make. None of the Everton shots on target where particularly threatening, however. Could have maybe done better for the conceded goal, but that is being harsh.

Aaron Hickey - 6/10

Decent game. Very rarely gave the ball away with his passing. Didn't have too much success from an attacking threat point of view.

Mathias Jørgensen - 5/10

Was beaten by Gordon's run in behind him, which led to Everton's goal. Not too many nervy moments afterwards on only his second league start of 2022.

Ben Mee - 7/10

Won seven of his eight aerial duels. The more solid centre back of today's pairing. Looks to be a great signing for Brentford.

Rico Henry - 7/10

Created two very good chances for Mbeumo and Toney - would have had two assists on another day.

Christian Nørgaard - 6/10

Struck the bar early on in the second half. Decent game up until being substituted for Janelt in the 69th minute.

Joshua Dasilva - 5/10

Didn't have any kind of real impact on the game. Maybe a bit of a surprise he wasn't taken off a bit earlier than stoppage time.

Mathias Jensen - 7/10

Also struck the woodwork. Covered decent ground on the left side and put in a lot of crosses into the box. Good performance.

Yoanne Wissa - 4/10

Missed a few good chances & only completed three passes in the 68 minutes he was on the pitch for.

Bryan Mbeumo - 6/10

Looked a threat throughout the game, but squandered a big chance early on. Had a few attempts which narrowly went wide of the far post.

Ivan Toney - 6/10

Hit the post with a header, which was his best chance of the game. Other than that, not much to note.

Substitutes

Shandon Baptiste (68') - 5/10

Didn't have too much of a noticeable impact after coming on.

Keane Lewis-Potter (68') - 7/10

Got the assist for Janelt's winner, thanks to his near post flick on form a corner and looked lively. Was a big improvement on Wissa, making a serious case for a start in midweek.

Vitaliy Janelt (69') - 8/10

Scored the much-deserved equaliser and crossed the 90% pass completion mark after coming on.

Mikkel Damsgaard (78') - N/A

Mads Bech Sørensen (90+2') - N/A

Everton

Jordan Pickford - 6.5/10

An ever-eccentric appearance with some very good and some not so good passes and long balls out from the back early on. Had a good, low save to make against Janelt's header, but was helpless second time around for the equaliser.

Nathan Patterson - 6/10

A poor bit of defending allowed Henry's cross to lead to Toney hitting the post. Was the only significant lapse, from an otherwise decent performance.

Mason Holgate - 6/10

Was forced off by injury in the 68th minute, prior to the equaliser, which will be a concern for supporters.

Conor Coady - 7.5/10

Gets the assist for the goal - played a good long pass into the path of Gordon's run. The move to Everton is a good one for him - as he can continue playing the role of the central centre back in a three man partnership.

James Tarkowski - 7/10

Looked to be the most active of the defenders. Had plenty of clearances and interceptions to make compared to the rest.

Vitaliy Mykolenko - 6/10

Him and Hickey had a stalemate down their side, both defending effectively. Did have a good chance on the rebound from Gordon's volley, which was well saved.

Amadou Onana - 7/10

The new signing seems to be settling in well. Had a few energetic bursts in midfield and looks a much needed physical presence in the Everton midfield.

Alex Iwobi - 6/10

Has adapted fairly well to his new, midfield role. Looks to be fairly well drilled defensively, completing five tackles today.

Dwight McNeil - 5/10

Not had too much of an impact on the game. Was taken off late on.

Demarai Gray - 5/10

Had a good chance to put Everton 2-0 up during the second half, which he didn't take. Like McNeil, didn't look massively threatening.

Anthony Gordon - 8/10

Brilliantly created & finished goal. Had 4 shots on target in total and looked a real leader in this Everton team. Man of the match.

Substitutes:

Michael Keane (on: 68') - 5/10

Came on to replace the injured Holgate. Everton had their backs to the wall from that point onwards. No real impact made.

Tom Davies (on: 78') - N/A

Ruben Vinagre (on: 86') - N/A

Salomon Rondon (on: 86') - N/A
