Jesse Marsch will kick off his first full season in charge of Leeds United when Wolverhampton Wanderers visit Elland Road on Saturday. Marsch's side came from 2-0 down to seal a remarkable 3-2 victory last time the sides met. The American will be hoping for a similar result this weekend, although slightly less dramatic.

Leeds have seen the departure of key players, with Kalvin Phillips joining Premier League champions Manchester City and Raphinha joining Barcelona. The American has utilised his contacts in the transfer window, signing three players from his former sides.

Rasmus Kristensen has joined club record signing Brenden Aaronson in moving from RB Salzburg, while Tyler Adams joins United from  RB Leipzig. Marc Roca, joining from Bayern Munich, and Luis Sinisterra, moving from Feyenoord, are expected to replace the departing Phillips and Raphinha

Wolves' summer window has been much quieter than their weekend opponents. Nathan Collins joins the Molineux outfit from recently relegated Burnley, while Hwang Hee Chan's loan deal has been made permanent. The South Korean international will be hoping to score against his former manager this weekend. With Conor Coady and Morgan Gibbs-White both linked with moves away from the West Midlands, Wolves' transfer window may yet kick into life.

Team News

Leeds United

Leeds are without multiple first team players heading into the weekend's fixture. Daniel James will miss the match as he serves the final game of a three match suspension picked up last season. He will join Leeds' Under-21 squad for their fixture with Derby County on Friday.

Adam Forshaw, Luke Ayling and Junior Firpo will all miss the clash with Wolves, although the trio all look likely to return from injury sooner than expected.

Liam Cooper has sustained a knock that will keep him out on Saturday, while Luis Sinisterra is not expected to be available until next weekend. Stuart Dallas will also miss out.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves main striker Raul Jimenez will miss the opening games of the Premier League season with a knee injury sustained in pre-season. The Mexican was Wolves' top scorer last campaign with six Premier League goals.

Adama Traore will also miss out on a spot in Saturday's squad. The Spaniard has not played yet this season after picking up a hamstring injury.

Hwang Hee Chan and Leander Dendoncker are expected to battle it out for the final spot in Bruno Lage's starting 11, filling in for the injured Jimenez. Hwang scored at Elland Road last season, giving Wolves the lead before Leeds' late leveller.

Likely Line-ups

Leeds United

Meslier; Kristensen, Koch, Llorente, Struijk; Aaronson, Roca, Adams, Harrison; Rodrigo, Bamford (4-4-2)

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Sa; Jonny, Collins, Kilman, Ait Nouri; Neves, Moutinho, Dendoncker; Gibbs-White, Podence, Neto (4-3-3)

Key Players

Tyler Adams

Tyler Adams has big shoes to fill in replacing Kalvin Phillips, but the American is more than capable of becoming a fan favourite. The dynamic midfielder will be faced with a threatening Wolves' attack, but has the quality to break them down and put Leeds on the front foot. The 23-year-old will be wanting to make a good impression on his Leeds debut.

Ruben Neves

With the rumoured departure of Conor Coady, Ruben Neves looks likely to become Wolves club captain. The Portuguese midfielder has become a key figure in the Wolves dressing room, and is arguably the best player the Molineux faithful have seen for many years. Neves will look to dictate the tempo of the game, hoping to calm down what will certainly be a menacing atmosphere inside a packed Elland Road.
