Reading have loaned out goalkeeper Grace Moloney and midfielder Charlie Estcourt on short term loans to WSL 2 sides Aston Villa and Bristol City respectively.

Moloney makes Villa switch

Grace, who has already made 5 appearances this season in WSL 1, has been loaned out to Aston Villa on a short term loan.

This means she will continue to play week in week out. This loan means that Mary Earps is currently the only goalkeeper at Reading with a week to go in the transfer window.

She moved to Reading from Bristol City before the start of the current season. Despite being with Aston Villa, Moloney will still train with Reading. It’s unsure whether Reading will get another goalkeeper as back up or keep the situation as it is.

Estcourt off to Bristol

Welsh international Charlie Estcourt will be making the temporary move to Bristol City.

Speaking on the move, Reading manager Kelly Chambers said that “this is a great opportunity for her to gain experience and get more minutes”.

Willie Kirk, Bristol City manager, expressed his delight with the deal and says that it’s exactly what Bristol needed. He sees Estcourt as an "exciting young prospect".

Bristol City loans

It is worth noting that Bristol City have a fair few loan signings. In the winter transfer window, they acquired Jodie Brett, Millie Farrow and Rosella Ayane on loans all from Chelsea. Ayane was on a short term loan and has since returned to Chelsea, leaving a space for Estcourt. Brett and Farrow will be at Bristol until the end of the season.

Currently, Bristol City are 4th in the WSL 2 table and Aston Villa 5th. Bristol face Oxford United next who lie below them in the table and Aston Villa face London Bees. These two Reading players could possibly face off already on Tuesday. The previous fixture in this season between the two teams ended in a 2-0 win for Bristol City.
