As a human being, everyone of us has their own inspiration. A true inspiration is the one which makes you become a successful person in your life and your career.

New Manchester United signing, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed that he is inspired by his father, who passed away two decades ago, but there's not a single day that the Armenian international does not get inspired by his father, who himself was a professional football player.

Speaking at United’s Adidas kit launch in China, the Armenian national football team captain revealed that his father “was my drive, so he was my motivation because when I was young he was playing football professionally and I was always dreaming to go with him to the training ground” and it was his dream "to continue his work and to also be a football player."

Henrikh was a kid when his dad passed away

The Manchester United playmaker's dad was a professional footballer, who played some of his career in France. Opening up about his death, Mkhitaryan said "he was 33 years old, I was seven years old at the time" admitting, "it is a pity but that’s life. The life continues and I hope he is proud looking at me from the sky so I try to do everything to make him proud."

The former Shakhtar Donetsk player says that his father's support and help in his career could have been key as he is "sad because I think he could have helped me with his words and his support, but that’s life". Henrikh said that because of this, he is now trying to "do everything with my family members, my friends, who are watching me every day, every game."

Mkhitaryan explained how hard his father's death was, despite the fact that it made him toughen up, thinking that "on one side, yes it made me grow up quicker" but "on one side no because it is very difficult when you grow up without a father because in the family you don’t have a real man who can give you direction, discipline."

A football family

The Mkhtaryan family is a pure football family. The former Borussia Dortmund player's mother worked in the Armenian Football Federation and his sister works for UEFA currently.

Last season's Bundesliga assist leader, who provided 15 assists, said that "my mother was my mother and father, so I am thankful to her and I am thankful to all the people who were next to me at the time in a hard moment so the life continues and I am trying to learn something new from the people and getting into football."
