Following a great start in the Premier League with a 1-0 win over the defending champions Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur is ready to compete in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.

In order for Spurs to gain an entry into the group stage of the tournament, they will first have to compete in a two-leg play-off format.

The squad managed by Nuno Espírito Santo will face off against the Portuguese side, Pacos De Ferreira for a spot in the group stage.

No Aurier No Ndombele

In not so much surprising news, Tottenham Hotspur have left the French duo of Serge Aurier and Tanguy Ndombele out of the Spurs Conference League play-offs squad.

Striker Harry Kane has been included.

Earlier in the summer, Aurier told L'Equipe he had reached the 'end of a cycle' and wanted to leave North London.

An agreement has not been reached for the right-back, but he will most likely not complete the one year left he has on his current contract.

On the other hand, Evening Standard's Dan Kilpatrick reported there were noises that the Frenchman came back to pre-season training “carrying a bit of weight.”

Ndombele, who is under contract with Tottenham until 2025, is the Club's most expensive transfer ever.

Match-up

The first leg will be played in Portugal next Thursday with no travelling fans allowed, while the second leg will be at North London on Thursday, August 26th.

Pacos De Ferreira defeated the Irish Club Larne FC 4-1 on aggregate score to secure their spot in the play-off round.

On the other hand, Tottenham reached the final qualifying round after finishing seventh in the Premier League last season.
