With the amount of talent there is in the squad, winning the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League should be a priority for Tottenham Hotspur this season.

Nuno Espírito Santo's side will face Portuguese Club Pacos De Ferreira in the competition's final play-off round.

If Spurs win, they would earn a spot in the group stage.

The first leg will be played in Portugal next Thursday with no travelling fans allowed, while the second leg will be at North London on Thursday, August 26th.

The UEFA Europa Conference League matches will be played on Thursday nights, alongside the Europa League.

How did this happen?

Pacos De Ferreira defeated the Irish Club Larne FC 4-1 on aggregate score to secure their spot in the play-off round.

On the other hand, Tottenham reached the final qualifying round after finishing seventh in the Premier League last season.

“The new UEFA club competition makes UEFA’s club tournaments more inclusive than ever before,” UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said. “There will be more matches for more clubs, with more associations represented in the group stages.”

In case Spurs win the competition, which will be hard considering Jose Mourinho's AS Roma is also in it, they will earn themselves a place into the group stages of next season’s Europa League.

This competition will also be a good opportunity for the young Spurs players to develop and gain some first team experience, considering the group stage fixtures will most likely be played against significantly  weaker opponents.
