Tottenham Hotspur are attempting to bolster their Under-23 side by signing two players who have impressed in the lower leagues this season.

  • Josh Ajayi

Ramsgate forward Josh Ajayi was released from Crystal Palace in 2020 and has found success since moving to the Isthmian South-East side and according to Kent Online has already trained with Spurs, having scored 19 goals in league and cup so far this season.

The powerful forward will likely succeed Dilan Markanday, who had 12 goals and five assists in 14 appearances for Wayne Burnett's side this season, in leading the line for the Under 23's following his move to Blackburn Rovers earlier this month.

Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit of Ajayi, with a host of other clubs in League One and League Two interested in the 19- year old and Tottenham may find it difficult to offer as clear of a pathway to first-team football as these other clubs.

  • Ollie Tanner

Spurs are also trying to sign Lewes Town FC winger Ollie Tanner but face stern competition for his signature from Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 19-year old, formerly in the youth side of bitter North London rivals Arsenal, is subject to a bid from Tottenham and according to The Guardian, Spurs  "will win the race" for the winger.

Tanner is a direct, flair winger who also has excellent ability over freekicks, as demonstrated here.

With established U23 winger Jack Clarke heading out on loan to League One side Sunderland, Tanner might well find himself in the side should he sign before the transfer deadline.

It is, however, more likely that he will be loaned straight back to Lewes Town, the same agreement Brighton had with the club regarding buying Tanner before Tottenham's interest emerged.

Like Ajayi, it is also believed that Tanner has trained at the club and according to Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard he has been "impressing coaches" over the last two weeks in which he has trained with the development side.
