Bournemouth travelled to St. James’ Park this afternoon, upsetting Newcastle United with a draw, while the home team remain without a win since the opening day of the Premier League this season. The Cherries, with only 27% possession during the match, found the back of the net by the wonderful finish from midfielder Philip Billing on the counter attack. After today’s match, Bournemouth rank 12th in the Premier League table with eight points and stay undefeated under the interim manager Gary O’Neil. The interim manager took questions from BBC Sport after the match.

On today’s result:

O’Neil: “It is a good point for us. It is obviously a tough place to come. Boys stood up. I am a little disappointed with the penalty. I am pleased the boys got something out of it because they put in a good shift. “

On the game plan as the game went on:

“We have a couple of game plans prepared, so the boys were prepared to flip from couple of different plans we had. Before the game we might swim, and maybe moments we had to suffer, we had to dig in together. So we changed a bit second half, gave up a little bit of the ground, but I never really felt under threat.”

On three game undefeated:

“The players show spirit every game. It is such a tough league, so we just reset and reset. We have to reset going to the next one because this one won’t help the next one. The next one starts 0-0 again. I just delighted for the lads and everyone, the fans who travelled a long way to come. Big support from them.”

On the interaction with fans:

“Just need to make sure when you hear them you respond. You don’t want to be rude when they travelled around the country. We appreciate it, more from the boys than me because the boys need them in the tough times.”

On his own future at the club:

“No idea. I know I have taken the charge today, we will find out what is happening tomorrow I guess.”
