The Money in the Bank briefcase has provided some of the most entertaining and fresh moments in recent WWE history.

The contract almost guarantees you will be a World Champion, with only John Cena and Damien Sandow unsuccessfully cashing in their contracts.

Some cash-ins have been less memorable, such as Jack Swagger's, and others have left fans screaming at their television "why, oh why?!", such as Sheamus' cash-in on Roman Reigns at Survivor Series in 2015. That is how unpopular the Celtic Warrior is.

While some have failed to capture the imagination of the WWE Universe, others have shocked audiences and brought some of the greatest ever crowd reactions.

Here are the five greatest Money in the Bank cash-ins!

5. John Cena - CM Punk, Raw 1000, 2012

Although this was not one of the most shocking cash-ins in WWE history, it provided the first failed cash-in and brought about a shocking end to Raw's 1000th episode.

Not for the first time, we already knew this cash-in was going to happen beforehand, thanks to the noble Cena telling WWE Champion, CM Punk a week in advance.

The two top superstars at the time put on a stellar match like they had done many times before, and it looked as though Cena was going to end Punk's reign until Big Show turned up and ended the match.

Not one to be upstaged, The Rock came to Cena's aid and took out the seven foot tall Big Show. It looked as though Raw 1000 was going to end with The People's Champion standing tall until CM Punk hit Dwayne with the GTS and shocked the world.

None of this would have happened had it none been for the Money in the Bank contract.

4. Edge - John Cena, New Year's Revolution, 2006

At New Year's Revolution, we saw for the first time exactly what a man can do with that briefcase.

Having defended the WWE Championship inside the demonic Elimination Chamber, the last thing John Cena needed was another title match with The Rated R Superstar Edge, who was later dubbed The Ultimate Opportunist.

It took two Spears to take down Super Cena, but the bloodied champ was unable to raise his shoulders before the three count.

Edge defeated Cena, to claim his first every world title and propel him to superstardom. Edge's win showed just how big an opportunity Money in the Bank could be for a superstar, and it ensured that future champions must always be prepared to defend their title when that contract is around.

As Edge shocked the world to become champ, commentator Jerry Lawler bellowed: "He's stolen the damn title!"

3. Rob Van Dam - John Cena, ECW One Night Stand, 2006

Yet again, John Cena lost his title thanks to that pesky briefcase. This time it was at the hands of Rob Van Dam, albeit with a helping hand from Edge and Paul Heyman.

RVD was the first superstar to announce when he was going to cash-in his contract, but he made sure the match was still in his favour.

Rather than waiting for a wounded champion, Van Dam informed Cena in advance that he would have to defend his WWE Championship at ECW One Night Stand

This was not your regular one-on-one match. ECW was different. This was an Extreme Rules match in front of a hostile New York crowd, who presented signs reading "if Cena wins we riot" whilst chanting "f**k you Cena" at the face of WWE.

With the match on a knife edge, a man emerged from the crowd with a helmet on, who then speared Cena through a table. With the fans in shock, the man was revealed to be Edge, who exited the arena, leaving Cena at the mercy of RVD and the ECW faithful.

Van Dam hit Cena with a Five Star Frogsplash, and with no referee in the ring, Paul Heyman counted to three to send the crowd wild and give RVD his first ever world title.

2. Dolph Ziggler - Alberto Del Rio, Raw after WrestleMania 29, 2013

Having held the contract for 267 days, Dolph Ziggler finally cashed in his contract on an injured Alberto Del Rio.

On one of the most entertaining nights of the year with one of the most vocal crowds, the Raw after WrestleMania 29 saw one of the greatest Money in the Bank cash-ins.

Having defeated Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter, Del Rio was tended to by doctors following an ankle injury in the previous match. Then, The Show Offs music hit and a roar rang around the arena as Ziggler marched down to the ring with AJ Lee and Big E

After many failed attempts, Ziggler was finally cashing in.

In true Ziggler-style, he made you believe he was going to fail as Del Rio locked in the Cross Armbreaker, only for Ziggler to attack the injured ankle and hit the Zig Zag for the win.

It looked like this win would take Dolph to the next level, but a concussion ended his title run and he has never reclaimed the gold since.

1. Seth Rollins - Brock Lesnar - Roman Reigns, WrestleMania 31, 2015

Only one man has ever cashed in Money in the Bank on the grandest stage of them all.

The main event of WrestleMania 31 saw Brock Lesnar defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns.

Despite Reigns being booked as a face, he was booed out of the stadium whilst Lesnar, who had just resigned with the company days before, was cheered as he dismantled Reigns with suplex after suplex.

It appeared as though WWE had backed themselves into a corner. A Reigns win would not sit well with the crowd, whereas a win for The Beast Incarnate would mean they would still have a part-time champion.

Enter Seth Rollins.

With a lull in the match, Mr. Money in the Bank raced down the entrance ramp and turned the main event into a triple threat.

It looked as though Rollins' plan had backfired, as Lesnar raised him in the air for an F5 before Reigns took out the former UFC champion with a Spear.

Rollins recovered and hit his former Shield-brother with a vicious Curb Stomp to win his first title, which he would hold for 220 days before being forced to relinquish the belt due to injury.

Rollins raced out of the ring and swung the title around his head as WrestleMania came to close. Rollins had completed the "heist of the century" and created one of the most shocking moments in Wrestlemania history, all thanks to Money in the Bank.
