Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah has praised striker Anthony Martial after his excellent first season with the club.

Joining from Monaco last summer the 20-year-old forced his way into Louis Van Gaal’s side and became the clubs go-to player for creativity in an otherwise uninspiring season for the reds.

The Frenchman, who is currently preparing for the Euro 2016 final against Portugal on Sunday night, had an excellent first season with the club since making the high profile move last summer, scoring 17 goals in 49 appearances.

The striker announced himself to the United fans perfectly, particularly coming off of the bench against Liverpool last season to score on his debut, not to mention his dramatic late winner in the FA Cup semi-final against Everton at Wembley.

Those fantastic moments and his wonderful season has not gone unnoticed by United defender Fosu-Mensah, who also endured a successful season as the 18-year-old made his first team debut for the club.

The defender, who can also play in midfield, came into a struggling United side and provided assurance as well as quality to the team and looks a certainty to be involved with the club over the coming years.

Martial an "Extremely good player"

Speaking about his teammate the Dutchman didn’t hold back on his praise for the French striker. He said: “Wow, there’s so many great players at United. So many."

Fosu-Mensah added, “Of course, everyone has their own qualities, but when I see Martial, I see an extremely good player.”

With Martial still on international duty he is still some way off of returning to United to prepare for the next campaign, and should enjoy a well-earned rest following the competition after a season where the Frenchman has played more games than most would have predicted.

Nonetheless when the striker does return to the club he will most certainly be right at the forefront of Jose Mourinho’s plans to take United back to the top of the Premier League.
