Torino president Urbano Cairo has revealed that he would only sell in-form striker Andrea Belotti for €100m, with Manchester United monitoring the player ahead of a possible summer move.

The Red Devils are in need of a shake-up at Old Trafford, and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic having been released earlier this month, United are left with just two recognised strikers in Marcus Rashford and club captain Wayne Rooney.

However, Rooney has been heavily linked with a move away from United this summer, exactly the reason why Jose Mourinho is chasing a number of Europe's most clinical strikers. Belotti has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several months now, with the Reds seemingly the only party interested in the 23-year-old.

Torino president reluctant to sell

However, a move all depends on the willingness of Cairo and Torino to sell their star striker who has notched in 28 goals for the Serie A club this season. Speaking to Italian broadcaster, Radio 24, Cairo said: “I care about Belotti and I'm keeping hold of him, he has a contract with Torino until 2021. I would only sell him for €100m, but even then he can refuse."

United have done business with Torino in the past, when they signed full-back Matteo Darmian in 2015 but negotiations to seal a move for Belotti are expected to be a bit more difficult.

Despite the heavy rumours linking him with a move to Manchester ahead of the new Premier League season, Cairo believes that Belotti wants to remain with the club.

"The most important thing is what he wants, regardless of the release clause, and I believe he wants to stay. We are trying to build the best possible team at Torino.

Belotti is busy on international duty [with Italy] at the moment and then he is getting married on Thursday — he invited me." He added.

Belotti not the only striker being watched

However, the Italian forward - who scored in Italy's 5-0 drubbing of Liechtenstein, is not the only attacking player on United's wishlist as Real Madrid forward Alvaro Morata has also been rumoured to be on his way to Old Trafford while Romelu Lukaku and Antoine Griezmann have also been targeted.

Despite the huge release clause in Belotti's contract, United have shown their persistence in previous transfer windows and if Mourinho is an admirer of Belotti, it could only be a matter of days before we see a transfer bid submitted.
