The 2019/20 season has been filled with glory for Liverpool. In a year that has seen them win the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and the Premier League, the Reds have created history and could be on course to dominate English football.

Their current team is filled with world-class players who are all hitting their peaks. Quality both on and off the pitch has allowed Liverpool to grow exponentially.

As Jurgen Klopp and his management team now look to another successful season, there are a number of youngsters who could have more of a say within the first team.

20-year-old Rhian Brewster could be one of those players who may be given his chance at Anfield.

  • Recapping 2019/20: Positive loan spell at Swansea

After recovering from an ankle injury, Brewster started the season with the U23’s where he continued his development.

In January his sealed a loan move to Swansea in the Championship. This was the first glimpse of regular football in a competitive league for Brewster and he rose to the occasion.

With Swansea, he scored 11 goals in 22 games and helped them get into the play-offs. He scored the opening goal against Reading to help the Swans win 4-1 and push them into the final play-off spot on the last day of the season.

Brewster’s one-in-two goal-to-game ratio is very impressive and shows the quality that he possesses. Whilst he is clearly a very good striker, Brewster’s lack of game time and experience means it would be a gamble to make him Liverpool's second striker.

  • 2020/21 prospects: Attacking reserves have fallen short, but no need to rush Brewster

To win the Premier League with ease takes an unbelievable amount of skill and quality as well as hunger and drive to win it. Liverpool's elusive front three sum that up perfectly and are right up there for one of the best attacking threats in the world.

However, Liverpool’s options below them have fallen short. Divock Origi has struggled to cement his place in the team and despite scoring some huge goals in Liverpool’s 2018/19 season, has not hit the same form this year.

Takumi Minamino is expected to have a bigger role in the squad for next season and once he is fully adapted to playing the Liverpool way, he could prove valuable. He is the most similar to Roberto Firmino.

Whilst the options for Liverpool at the moment don’t seem amazing, making Brewster Liverpool’s second choice would be a big risk. His playing style is similar to Daniel Sturridge and may struggle to have the impact at Liverpool as he did at Swansea.

Ultimately his quality and improvement this year has been great but there is no need to rush him. Another loan either in the Championship or in the Premier League would continue to give him regular football at a high level and allow him to continue his development.

Should that happen, Brewster could be a seriously good player and be a very good option to have for the following season.
